Low grade fuel question :(

So I was in Yellowstone over the weekend and my Pops drove my car a few times. Wanting to be nice he filled it up at Chevron with 87 octane. It's only been driven about 10 miles or so since the fill. I need advice. Should I drain it? I got one recommendation to just stay out of boost and baby it this tank but I don't want to risk anything. Any input is welcome.

Splash in a gal or two of E85 to raise the octane. Fuel trims will go positive, but it's better than knocking.

thanks fellas. I'll just baby it and then throw in some e85 after 50-60 miles. Ugh this is going to be a long 300 miles.

I believe the manual says you can run 87. I was forced to either put some really crappy 87, or run out of gas. The next day I drove and forgot that I had the shitty gas in it, hit the gas a little too hard, and the car said 'no thanks' It ran like crap until I shut it off and started back up.

Moral of the story, take it easy and you will be fine if it was a decent quality 87. As soon as you get a couple gallons out of the tank, start to fill it up with 93.

Definitely was a pain. I couldn't for the life of me get the siphon tube through all the bends in the piping so I wound up jacking the car up, undoing the hose clamp right above the fuel tank and did it that way. Went pretty quick once I got the tip wet..... lol

You wasted your time the car would of been fine if you just drove it normal ,other than feeling a little less power there wouldnt of been any issues.
Gm would of taken into account people putting in regular gas with these prices now adays.

Lol, I can't believe you drained the tank on a Cobalt. It's not like it was some crap gas, you would have been fine. What a waste of money....
