Lower GM Stg 1 Map Sensor help

So i did as northvibe had suggested.

I took out the MAP sensor in the manifold and tried to plug in the harness from the lower.

The lower harness will not clip over the barb on either sensor. I was able to press the clip down and force it onto the MAP sensor in y hand.

I noticed when I tried to reinstall the harness onto the lower MAP that it conflicts with the AC line? It rubs up against it. So it looks likea combination of the sensors not snapping in and rubbing on the AC line.

So my question is does the harness need to be replaced or the lower charge piping removed and the sensor and plug installed at the same tme? Is there much play in the position of the lower piping? I didn't have this issue with the stock sensor and harness. Is the new sensor and harness higher up or is this all due to install?

do you have a pic? I took some for another member...

Is there any slack in the wiring? The dealer installed yours right? almost sounds like they didnt leave enough slack, which if driven rough the harness broke off...maybe? I know you can buy the harnesses separate now, so worst case is you buy the harness and reinstall it leaving some length on it.

Plenty of length on the harness.

Like i said the the original post.

The harness doesn't clip into place on either sensor that I tried. You have to force the clip down over the barb on the sensor. Which is impossible when the sensor is already in place.

The other issue is that there is not enough clearance between the harness and the AC line above it. The harness is rubbing on the line and popping the sensor off under load.

She is at the stealership now and we will see if they can help. If not I'm not sure what my next step is? Try a different dealership or go to someone higher than the local dealership.

Which my car luck.

I rotated my sensor the other direction to face the AC fans and with my aftermarket coldpipe it works so much better. It does not hit the fan shroud at all. I tried it towards the AC compressor it was hitting badly.

Wow so the harness does hit the fan in the other direction?

I have aftermarket intercooler but not coldpipe. Never thought about reversing it.

I cant see my pics at work, but I dont remember mine rubbing...

Hmm I would agree with term2, if you need to just rotate the sensor and if need be zip tie or secure with something the wire loom to not hit the fan.

I"m wondering the same thing. Do the screw holes line up in reverse? Symetrical? I assume the sensor will work the same after seeing it in person.

which sensor (top or bottom) needed to be clipped or sanded down? could that be causing this issue?

yup pretty sure they do, the new sensors are only 1 screw and the old were 2. So it should line up facing the other way

yup those are it.

I looked at the instructions, YES the lower sensor needs the "boss" aka tab, removed, via filing, sanding or cutting. Check to see that was done umrdyldo. Its on page 4 of the instructions:

No, it has enough room on my car. I tried it the "normal" way towards the AC compressor and it was hitting badly. You definately have to figure out why the sensor will not clip into place though. Might want to have the dealer get you a brand new sensor and if necessary a new connector.

Look just like the ones on my car. I had to assemble my connectors myself though. Saved a ton of money that way though. Cost me $80 total shipped for both connectors and both map sensors.

we will see what happens when i get the car back.

Do you guys normally remove the charge piping to do this?

I really don't feel like it. I do have a lift in my parents' garage so it's not like I can't, just have never done it.

You do not have to. I removed mine and my bumper because I had to address a few other minor issues (checking for leaks) at the time.

nope, just threw my car on ramps and used a crawler to scoot under the car and then its kind of right there in your face, but you dont have tons of room.

Just got the call.

Ordering a new harness. Pretty cheap if that fixes the issue, but the bitch is still gonna rub.

Well I don't really know. The stage kit was installed after the intercooler. I don't know what the fitment was of the stock sensor and harness, but I do know I didn't have this problem of the harness coming off with the stock harness.

well the stock sensor is shaped different so the wires go straight up not out parallel to the ground. I have some pics, but I can look again under my car I dont think with a stock ic its a issue I am guessing that with a aftermarket ic it may of moved the boost tube just a little.
