Me vs Evo 8?

okay a friend of mine found out that i got my car tuned and heard it was pretty fast so he wants to race me from a 35 roll in his Evo 8 his mods are intake full exhaust and tune. Word on the street is that he makes 350awhp on e85 but if me and him race he will be using 93 octane. My mods are badmab catless dp zzp hot and coldside charge pipes, zzp front mount and m dub 30psi tune. Matt said i should be in the ball park of 325whp and 420tq. The evo raced my friends sti that mad 294awhp and it was a pretty even race. Who should win between me and the evo?

The EVO isn't actually an evo its a ralliart with evo full mods. evo/rallyart got 345hp.. The cobalt has trifecta tune and downpipe, zzp intercooler, zzp exhaust, hahn intake n charge pipe,..but kick he ass.. bad

i mean i raced my buddies sti from like a 30 roll and killed him with ease and the sti and evo were a pretty even race. So i suspect i will get him especially after the 60 mph mark because thats when the torque management goes away on my tune. i will def. take some videos cause the guy is a little cocky about his evo

you should beat him from a roll. From a dig well. the results should be obvious. Logically if both cars are making roughly the same amount of power and the cobalt is lighter, the cobalt will win.

I doubt he's around 350 whp with those mods on E85, unless he's lying about what he has done.

If he was even with a 295whp STi he doesnt have anywhere near 350whp. However it is very possible for a stock turbo Evo (even an 8) to make over 350whp with turboback exhaust, intake, injectors, pump, and good E85 tune on some decent boost. My friends Evo 8 MR that I tuned made 361whp on Brad Barnhills Virtual Dyno (not a real dyno, but tons of guys swear by it in the evo community, so who knows) with those mods and an O2 housing on 26 psi, and I got him by about a car from 40-130 back on the 2.9" pulley. I have posted the vid before. Another friend I tuned made 349whp on his 8 GSR with the same mods but with charge piping and a megan turbo mani, stoclk O2 housing and on 24psi. He swapped to an Evo 9 10.5 hotside and new O2 housing and cranked up the boost to 28psi and Virtual Dyno showed 398whp, and the car pulled harder for sure. Then he parked it for winter. We were more or less seeing if the stock 100k mile head bolts would stretch at 28psi lol because now the car is getting a Buscher 2.3 stroker and Euthanasia ported head and pte6262 or FP black

i am pretty sure the car is making 350awhp because he is tuned by a local guy that is one of the best evo tuners (Kasey Harris) he works at HIS motorsports in Hickory NC look him up he is good at anything to do with evo's. I should get him but i wanted to see what you guys thought about it.

Second gear roll he might pull on you cause he has traction and we don't. once you both hit 3rd you will reel back and pull. You have to do a long straight though. I raced a new body sti with full bolt on's had about 330 whp. He would always pull in second and once I hit third, I creeped all the time. He hated that our car's are pretty decent freeway cars

i finally raced the evo over the weekend. The guy came up on me at a stop light and we took off at the light all slow. Once we hit second gear and got up to 40mph we looked at eachother and hit it. I started spinning immediately and i started to pull on him by half a car. Once i switched to third which didnt have torque management on it i put train lengths on him by the time i got to 120mph. Him and i got to the spot where everyone sets up races and he tried to get me to race from a 20mph roll and i said no because my clutch would slip since its still on stock clutch. I plan on getting my zzp stage 4 clutch in this week sometime then once i break in the clutch i will most likely race him from the roll he wants to race from. From what fellow evo and sti drivers said prior to us racing is that he will race any "slobalt" out here for $1,000 so i will most likely take him up on the offer if the offer still stands.

One question i have is once i get my clutch in how many miles should i drive before going wot?

Good run. Do you know his mod list? Generally, the clutch break-in period is 500 miles, city miles that is.

What an idiot, the evo's biggest advantage is its awd launches, maybe he'll realize that next time.

yea i think he is full bolt ons along with cams cam gears and i think some valves and a nasty tune by a very well known tuner in the evo forums. I think it puts down 350awhp on e85 im not sure thats just what everyone says. I suspect him pulling in the 20 roll but me coming back when we get to third gear. The cams are very noticeable..... it makes me want cams but cobalts wouldnt sound like a cammed evo.

The day I got my car it downpoured. I learned day 1 that AWD kicks ass in the rain. I was sold right then.

Until it breaks something. It's biggest strength is also it's biggest weakness.

Nice ... This is kind of off topic but I'm going to share anyway, I ran a 335i over the weekend from a 60 roll, we were dead even and let off around 130, I know he's fully bolted and I believe he dynoed around 440, I was quite pleased with my car to say the least
