It should not be an issue.

Have you put a new battery in or had the old one tested to see if it is still good? If you already tried a new battery and it still will not crank it is your starter.

yeah get battery tested or swap with someone elces... if it cranks then bring it to an auto parts store and have them check ur electrical system...

Quick fix if it is the starter( u can try this) tap on it with a hammer sometimes that will free the shaft up and let it start the car and if that works than it is a bad starter.

If you needed to change your oil and all you did was just add oil (the wrong kind at that), there's probably a good chance you screwed something up enough to where it won't start. IDK, there's a lot of factors that play into why it won't start now. If I were you, I'd probably take it to the dealer and have a tech look at it. But if you have some way to check the amperage draw on the battery, that will help significantly to determine whether or not it's a mechanical issue or electrical issue.

are you saying that because you used the incorrect oil in your car, it wont start???

Uhhhhh what oil were you originally using? If you mixed two oils with different viscosities, there can be issues over time, but usually won't be. if you mixed synthetic and conventional there can be potential problems depending on amounts, but you should be fine. if you mixed a detergent oil with a non-detergent oil, you may have a problem. Be careful next time

that in combination with a couple of other things. We don't know how low on oil he was, nor what the viscocity of the other oil is that the OP used. If it's the wrong kind, then the oil might not have been able to lubricate anything and it caused some stuff to seize (worse case scenario, but highly unlikely).

Seriously? Are you guys suggesting that adding a half a quart of a different kind of oil is causing a no start?

He coulda added a 1/2 quart of trans fluid, or diesel fuel, or 75w gear oil, or lemonade, and none of those things would have made the damndest bit of difference in starting. He could have screwed something up while working under the hood, but the type of fluid he put in has no bearing on whether its running or not.

like I said, it's not the only factor in this story. But if your engine was oil starved, would you add diesel oil and think it would help things?
