could just be a boost leak. could be the charge piping popped off, or broke, or there's a crack/hole in the intercooler end tanks.

RYRO14 Sep 29, 2011 04:22 PM

Sounds like a boost leak to me, check your piping and intercooler endtanks for cracks.

domestic_rice Sep 29, 2011 04:25 PM

do u think the bottom of the intercooler could have seperated?

Your knocking but no one is home to answer the door

TommyP Sep 29, 2011 04:52 PM

that piece should be solidly attached. It's probably broken, which would explain the boost leak. If you want, take that off, and fill the hole with JB weld. It's just there to collect condensation, it's not necessary, they break all the time.

jg707 Sep 29, 2011 05:01 PM

ya you scraped and knocked that piece loose. turn the car on and check around where it connect to the end tanks......you should be able to feel a little air coming out somewhere if the leak is big enough its causing you to not build boost. you can just patch it if its not too bad.

domestic_rice Sep 29, 2011 05:09 PM

ill cheak that right now but no jb weld for me crazy steve time

You said a dirty word that will incite a riot.

domestic_rice Sep 29, 2011 05:25 PM

i cant feel any air what so ever

jg707 Sep 29, 2011 05:31 PM

and you cant build any boost at all?

umrdyldo Sep 29, 2011 05:33 PM

Maybe have someone give it a little gas with you feeling it.

Of course in neutral

domestic_rice Sep 29, 2011 09:37 PM

no boost at all but i can manually push my BOV open and i get pressure there

FasterIsBetter Sep 29, 2011 11:51 PM

Judging by it looking as though you hit an elk from the looks of your bumper, I'd say check your intercooler. Def sounds like an end tank blown apart. Too whirry and loud to be just a small boost leak like charge piping unless it completely came off. My boost leak sounded like a bottle rocket but I found later that it was a coupler that had a 3/4" hole cut in it.

jg707 Sep 30, 2011 07:45 AM

ya as everyone has said its sounds like a boost leak, check all your charge piping and coupling points and your intercooler. you just gotta find it man!

OMG same thing as my car It was all good till i got to a light then nothing but that crazy noise that sounds like a shitty supercharger! Mine is at the dealer right now they are replacing my turbo and all the gaskets.. pop your top pipping off and see if their is a lot of oil.. the tech told me that their was a lot of play with the turbine.

domestic_rice Oct 7, 2011 11:38 AM

great lol

cranemaster Oct 7, 2011 11:55 AM

An impact of some sort, at some point caused that bottom piece to break off (for me this was daily driving in winter). This happened to me as well and the part was like that for close to 4 months, though.. when it "broke" I was just driving down the road normally. I lost boost pressure, the culprit was the end tank being blown off, as a result of the entire weight of the part hanging down and moving, putting allot of pressure where its attached at the other end.

Warranty covered it, but by the looks of your car... it seems like its been ran into a wall or two - so they might call shenanigans.

this happened to my brothers srt-4, the turbo was gone, the fins in the turbo were shredded and it would build boost, stupid dudes at the dealer let crap get into the turbo and didnt block it off

SSlobalt Oct 7, 2011 01:41 PM

Didn't this happen to someone on here when a piece came off the inside of the intake and got shredded in the turbo?

P.S. OP, keep you eye peeled on the Classifieds section on this site. I picked up a spare K04 for only $200 with very low mileage.

domestic_rice Oct 9, 2011 01:32 PM

i inspected my intercooler and there is no cracks or anything and that bottom peice is only connected on one end with a bolt so thats fine aswell
