27 is a lot of psi, especially after 5k rpm. Most cars lose a psi or 2 at the top because the turbo can't keep up, so I'd say that's kind of odd that its gaining psi.

It seems weird that if you're doing a pull, it would increase in boost at that kind of RPMs, in fact it should be starting to taper off by then. Almost sounds like boost creep, but I've never heard of a balt having boost creep issues.

Yea, I would guess that too but its awful loud, man. I could see it being that loud if op was hanging out the passenger window but if it is a massive boost leak the noise will be amplified.

holding is what the boost stays at constantly while doing a pull and spiking is whatit maxes out at for a short time and tapers back down.

Could a boost leak be doing this, yes. But we wont know until you check out your ic and charge pipe.

Normally, if it was just that sound, I'd think it was a turbo bearing going.

A few years ago though, when I broke my stock IC, I had something similar happen to what the OP is talking about. The chunk that broke out of the intercooler was so big that you could hear the turbo spinning up quite a bit to try to get the airflow to the engine. The car would barely move under its own power and would go limp to a standstill.

I can also say (from experience I'm sad to say) that from the two times I've had a cylinder go the smoke was white for some reason, not the blue that you'd think it would be. I'm not sure why, but I'm wondering if it has some thing to do with being a synthetic or something.

If the smoke is white, he could be overspinning and damaging the turbo due to it not having any boost backpressure buildup, and the car keeping the wastegate closed in an effort to get more air. I would stop driving the car immediately.

I will.. It smells like gas so tomorrow im gonna let it warm up a bit rev it for a sec and let some fresh **** come out the back and get a good fresh smell hahahahaha Then I will take the bumper off and the ic and both charge pipes and check them all for cracks... I have money to replace them all just hoping it isnt the turbo.. You have been such a big help man! thanks so much. tear down begins tomorrow

So your telling me your intercooler was so messed up (possibly like mine) that the turbo is spinning and thats what the loud noise is? cause it is just trying to get air? Ill be on my way to zzp tomorrow after noon and get a new ic if thats all the problem is... Im so not hoping a turbo..

You're probably very rich from an IC leak, so that's why you're smelling the gas. I'd be afraid that the turbo could be damaged due to overspinning it though too.

Tune sounds to crazy, my car spikes like 25-26 and holds at 23-24 but all ways falls off when it can't hold anymore. Gaining boost on top end is weird lol

Yep. The car is keeping the wastegate closed since it is commanding more airflow, and due to that and the turbo not having any boost pressure building up to put load on it either, you're spinning the crap out of it.

After my incident, mine lasted for a couple more years (tuned) before the bearing/seals went. I only tried driving it about a quarter mile, to get to a parking lot where I could get towed from though. I haven't read the whole thread, but I don't know how much you've driven on it like this.
