New TC owner question

I picked up my new SS TC last week and still have less than 1000 miles on it. My car feels very slooooooow still and was wondering if anyone else noticed it took a few miles to wake up??? The car I test drove flew and was definetly fast. Just courious if I have an issue or need to be patient. I know these cars will spank my GTI, well all but mine... lol ...

thx

How much boost? Check charge piping and intake.

thx for the welcome, I do really like the car allot. Boost seems to hold at 15 after a quick spike to 20. I have watched the spark advance and it yanks all timing out almost imediatly but does not record any knock retards. Pipes look ok, I would think if I had a leak it would flash a CEL. Maybe not though.

I will be patient and see what happens, I know my friends stock SS yanks on my modded GTI so I am excited to take my SS to the track.

thx guys...

Not sure what the dealer put in it but I ran it very low and then put in 93. I thought the first tank if only 89 may have caused it to run poorly. Should I reset the ECU or just drive it and let the car figure it out?

Are any of you seeing over 15 lbs of boost? I am seeing around 17 in second gear under WOT. The car should be 100% stock but I dunno I bought it used with 7K miles on it.

Keep driving with 91+ and see if the ECM corrects itself (which it should but I forget how many miles it's going to take). If the dealer put 87/89 in it likely pulled timing to avoid knock with the prevous tank of gas (hence it not registering any right now with 93). It will eventually correct itself. That said, the car does improve as the break-in progresses...just make sure to follow the break-in recommendations and she should run like a champ.

Welcome to the site. The boost levels you are seeing are about the same as mine. My car will hit 15 and stay there until about 5000rpm and creep up to 17-18psi. When I first bought my car it wasn't very quick...the more miles I put on it the faster it felt.

Also, first gear has torque management but i'm not sure about 2nd. I know in 3rd gear in this car is a beast

It's entirely dependent on your elevation...since your location doesn't specify where you are I'm going to assume it's normal for you to be slightly higher.

I just got to 1300 miles and yes the car opens up very much after 1k miles. Just wait. I test drove Cuda's then bought a new ss with 7 miles and was like...wtf this feels slow. So just wait.

Sounds good, If I disonnect the battery will it pickup the better fuel faster? I bought it at Classic in Grapevine.

I was going to give it a couple K and then get a tune. cant wait for that. Origonlly I was going to make this my daily driver and get a big turbo for my MKV. After I drove one of these and readup I changed my game plan. I am going to make this beast my weekend warrior and the Vdub the daily driver. The SS just has sooo many goodies already on it. Makes me proud to own a Chevy again... hehe...

Uhh disconnecting the battery may or may not help...someone else can comment. I'd just leave it as is, keep pushing premium fuel through it, follow the break-in and see where it goes. Mine is starting to wake up about 3000 miles in (that's a rough conversion from km) so just be patient, she'll get there .

I broke my ss in pretty hard, hit 140mh a couple times and some twisty stuff. But yeah At 1k miles disconnect the battery for a little bit, some say it helps idk the car just woke up slowly then it hits you one day that its faster than when you bought it lol.
