A run, as in at the track? And do you mean traction off or Competitive Mode (which includes the Launch Control feature)? Both modes are going to disable traction control which is practically a requirement for getting any decent times at the track. If you're going straight you're not going to need the stability control differences between the two modes (with Competitive Mode allowing more aggressive driving than the traction control off mode, which still has full StabiliTrak active).

That leaves the Launch Control feature of Competitive Mode. And at least at the tracks where I run, using Launch Control would induce too much time wasting spin (even if only for a few tenths of a second spinning, that makes a big difference on quarter-mile elapsed time). A progressive, quick feathered clutch release from about 2-2.5k rpms works much better for me on the stock tires. And the no-lift shift feature is active in all traction/stability control modes.

So if you are indeed asking which mode is best for a run at the track I'd say any of them except the normal, full stability/traction control mode that is engaged when you first turn on the car. And if you absolutely can't launch the car to save your life maybe use the Competitive Mode for Launch Control. Otherwise there's no difference between the two for me.

yeah launch control is cool to show to your friends, but in a run at the track(or on the street), I advice a 2000 or so launch, I usually launch around 2200rpm(little over 2k)...

be in Comp mode if you are racing at all

best launch will probably be a clutch abusing slip from 3k+
