Question oh noes...

Well for the last couple days I've noticed this new noise that sounds like it's coming from the engine near the turbo when I hit full boost...

It happens with the AC on or off, it's almost like a ticking/clicking noise that is independent of RPM's, it's hard to describe... To test it though I'll be on a flat, smooth road in 2nd gear at about 3K RPMS and then ease into full boost (about 21-22PSI) so the tires don't spin. The noise comes on as I hit full boost, and it comes and goes while in full boost till I shift. If I shift to third and go back to full boost the noise comes back, it isn't a constant ticking though...like ticktick..........tickticktick........... as best I can describe it through text.

I get off boost and the noise is gone, if I only boost to 10-15PSI or so and the noise doesn't happen...but as soon as I go WOT and full boost hits the noise comes back. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about...do you think this is my turbo flaking out? Could it be engine related? I've never heard a noise like it before and it's only started over the last 3-4 days. I thought it was an interior rattle at first from the front of the car because the car gets so jolted when full boost hits but it doesn't sound like it's a rattle anymore...almost sounds like knock but not quite...maybe it is knock and it sounds different on this engine, outside temps have been 100-105F since the noise started which is about 10-15F hotter than they were before the noise. ANY input is appreciated!!

From experience on my T-Type, some times knock can sound like the ticking your talking about. Best to have some sort of scantool to watch for KR while your going WOT. Always a good idea to have a scantool with a boosted car, even more important on a modded one. I run a Dashhawk on mine.

Ya, maybe it is knock, I took it out again and I can hold boost steady at 15PSI, take it all the way up to 18-19PSI at part throttle and there is no noise but as soon as I go WOT and it hits full boost the noise comes back. See what it sounds like early in the morning tomorrow on my way to work when it's cooler out.

I'm saving for a DashDaq so I can't monitor my KR till then. I don't normally get on it that much anyways, just something I noticed a few days ago when I did get on it. Thx for the help tho.
