I've been on a 30 PSI spike for a while and haven't had any problems. a little over 47K and still on the stuck clutch. It's showing a little slip but is still holding Strong.

Dumb question coming from a guy with a WRX and a SS/TC... but why the hell would you want a boost spike? Isn't the point of boost control to "control" boost?

I know on my WRX I spent ~$100 for an upgraded Grimmspeed boost control solenoid to allow for better boost control, i.e. no spike when turbo first fully spools, because that spike can mean a quick lean spike before the ECU and wastegate can catch-up per say and regulate everything. Before I installed the upgraded EBCS on my TD05 20G setup, it would spike 20-21 psi for a split second before the stock BCS and ECU would regulate it at 18 psi where it was supposed to be.

Plus, on a FWD car with traction issues, I don't know why you would want to press the issue of creating more traction loss because of a sudden torque rush from the spike.

If I understand it correctly the spike is to help get more torque out of the lower rpms and safely give you more boost off your stock k04 without blowing it up. And then it settles down a safer boost pressure. Everything is tuned for the spike so it doesn't lean out

His car is super safe the way it is...

timing is not conservative but no where near super aggressive. He spikes 27 settles to 25-26 it is fine. Car is great.

I wouldn't put something on someones car that had any way of being "too much" without them full understanding what they are getting themselves into.

My personal car has been at 30psi for 12k miles now on 93 and e without any issues whatsoever.

My great uncle lived to be nearly 100yrs old and smoked every day of his life. I still don't smoke though and never will.

Again, to each his own.

What does this have anything to do with. His car is safe... plain and simple.

Read it agin. It's a metaphor. Basically, I wouldn't run my stock stuff like that. Safe is a relative term. I'm sure you do great work though. Not trying to attack ya or nothin'.

its a stock intercooler. yeah ive always been irritated at the idea of plastic end tanks on a intercooler as well as the stock ic piping being complete plastic and totally restrictive, gm needed to think that one through a little.

its an amazing tune and has woken my car up even more now.

Spikes are going to happen. It's a small turbo. Even at a more basic 22psi tune they spike. Its just how they react. They spike it settles and then goes I have made the spikes much lower than some tunes available out there.

You can make it not spike with limiting the Max WGDC and also the pressure RPM factor table. My car doesn't spike at all anymore with the new tables.

yeah i officially was doing 73 but i was going with traffic literally, there was a minivan going faster than me and he pulled ME over...

but whatever, he did tell me that a month or 2 ago he pulled over a car just like mine that was red for doing 116 in a 60 that was on his way to florida. and he had to spend 10 days in jail. "i didnt know these cars had it in them to go that fast" and i was like "yeah, they go about 155-160 stock" and hes like "geesh i dont know what they got for their motors but its a quick little car" i then said thank you and sucked up the ticket and drove off.

Fun! When Nick 1st tuned me, I was spiking to 28-29 lbs and settling to 27 psi. I asked him to fine tune the tune and now I see 26psi spikes that settle in at 25psi.

A similar thing happened to me this last weekend. My first speeding ticket in 15 years of driving. 83 in a 70, kicked it down to 79. I call BS on the speed to begin with... Going with the flow of traffic, slower than the car behind me pushing me to get around this other car. Frustrating... but whatever.

Just be careful, while the tuning is good it is still very aggressive at that level. Be smart when driving it and it will last just fine for you! Seriously avoid 5th gear pulls tho, can't stress that enough with the really high boost tune!!

Yea, for sure avoid the 5th gear pulls. Mine is fried just gear doing 3rd gear pulls from 3500. I have to max out 2nd completely then take 3rd if I'm wanting to get on it or else clutch says no and lets go. Same for 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th. Have to max the gears out as you shift when doing pulls or its no good. Just slips like hell. Good thing I bought a clutch.

Im not talking about clutch being the issue, eventho that will certainly start to slip like mad with 5th gear pulls. All the motor horror stories seems to stem from 1 main thing, 5th gear pulls. Which makes a lot of sense, you are making a lot of load on the engine, the boost will spike higher in 5th with that extra load, also making more heat. Heat is the enemy when combined with high cylinder pressure!
