Oh this is a trifecta tune? Hell I missed that part. In that case, mystery solved.

Seems the norm for that tune, I searched around and found other similar graphs.

A "mail order" tune is not the proper way to do it. I'd find someone local to do a tune.

Not to be an ass, but trifecta uses "remote" tuning. You log the car and send the file to be revised, same as some one coming to tune your car. A lot of members here do the same with hp tuners.

Around me the tuners mostly do trucks...about 80% of the tuned vehicles are trucks so I just bought my own hptuners and am getting a remote tune. Decided that would be better than getting a local tune or going with trifecta

I'd rather my car dyno tuned in person. Not via a data log. I'm pretty sure on a normal tune, done in person doesn't have an end result that looks like some 2 year old w/ an etcha sketch. An if it does and it's not carbureted, then you've got something going on that you need to fix! Unless the dyno's not reading right.

Please tell me what the difference would be in someone remote tunning via HPT on a dyno, and someone with HPT tunning in person. They are going to both be tunning via a logged run and adjusting accordingly.

Well, no one out by me (St Louis) does Data Log tunes. Anyone with a good name either does Dyno Tuning or Street Tuning. And they tune it to the cars owners likability! If they want a more Race style tune, or Drivability style street tune.

Datalog tune; Record some data, send it in, they program it accordingly. You're done, deal w/ it.

Dyno/Street tune; The car is run, and logged. Maps are slightly changed. Car is then run again to see how it reacts to the new map, is there more room for adjustment?! If no, done, if yes, continue. Maps slightly changed. Car is run again to see how it reacts to the new adjustments, is there more room for adjustment?! If yes, repeat, if no, enjoy!

Shortbus, do you tune cars?! If so, let me give people a heads up before you come through my town.

No, I am not a tuner. My previous cobalts were tuned by one of the best tuners on the east coast, I learned a lot from him tuning with hp tuners, other than that I am the only one to work/touch my car. You do realize when you are tuning with hp tuners you are reading real time data of what the car is doing on wot pulls. So say you strap your car to a dyno get a baseline and send the log to your tuner, it then gets revised and sent back. Now you load said tune and repeat process. This would be the same for the street, do a couple wot pulls, send logs for revision's and repeat process. I can't really grasp a difference or see some sort of difference from the tuner being there or not, unless in hpt there is some sort of new available parameters to adjust when the tuner is actually sitting in the car.

You basically just proved my point by saying in both cases the car is ran and logged.

So instead of all the run around. Why not drive the car to the person, or tow it. And have them do it in one fowl swoop instead of "Log, send, receive, log send receive"?!

For some people they are no where near the tuner they use, so logging your car and sending and repeating is the best choice. Term, one of the good tuners here does a ton of remote tunning. He will ask you what you want out of your tune, and also have you do logs for spirited driving, wot, normal, which will give you a very dialed in tune to suit your needs perfectly, whether remote or in person the tuner will be asking many different types of driving habits and reading and adjusting logs.

i feel its better on the street because you deal with more variables. Dyno tuning seems better for actual race cars who only do the 1/4 mile.

The main difference is that in a dyno/street tuning setting, the tuner can actually whiteness in real time what the car is doing and how it is reacting vs looking through a file and pasting histograms.
