Our charge piping sucks!

A bracket for my car piping "slipped" today after i turned around a bumpy corner:thumbsdow Took a wiring loom with it and exposed two wires. The synapse charge piping is looking mighty good right now:cussing:

BLAZIN07SS 07-27-2008 12:45 AM

lsjwannabe 07-27-2008 12:46 AM

thats no fun hopefully its a easy fix

marcusicp 07-27-2008 12:49 AM

How could this happen? Got any pics of it?

BlueSS-supercharged 07-27-2008 12:50 AM

hungryhip-ccp 07-27-2008 01:05 AM

The first thing I noticed when I opened the hood of my car was the really flimsy hoses and charge pipes. I'm not sure who did it but perhaps it was the dealer, there was a thin film of what seemed to be engine detailer all over the pipes and hoses which was really greasy. Perhaps not the best idea around the joints which could be prone to blowing apart if lubricated.

Ferretts 07-28-2008 01:51 AM

Upon closer inspection the bracket actually broke... Plastic sucks and should not be used with boost... Getting the dealer to fix it so i get a new connector and loom for what it destroyed... but ill be ordering the synapse piping within the week

BostonBoy 07-28-2008 02:06 AM

pictures please.
Thanks

Darkfuzion 07-28-2008 02:09 PM

same thing with me exact same actually i brought it to the dealer and they said the part was back ordered he said it was under r&d and will be fixed in mid august with a better design

krispy 07-28-2008 02:14 PM

What bracket are we talking about?

I'd like to know so I can go check mine to see if its been developing any cracks.

Darkfuzion 07-28-2008 02:20 PM

its bascically to the left of the computer its a allen screw holding it on

TurboSS 07-29-2008 12:13 AM

ya I to am having charge piping problem too. The clip that holds it in place broke off Is it flops around. Im going to the dealer tomorrow to see what they can do for me.

krispy 07-29-2008 12:34 AM

I checked mine and didn't see any cracks luckily

Ferretts 07-29-2008 02:09 AM

How about that group buy on synapse charge piping now???;)

L.P. 07-29-2008 02:26 AM

How about a cheaper price in general? $600 is an outrageous price for metal pipes IMO.

hungryhip-ccp 07-29-2008 03:11 AM

$600 i suggest going to t-bolt clamps silicone couplers and a really good exhaust shop

custom piping FTW they bend the whole set-up if they know what there doing it will run ya $200 and be really clean

then when you get home dissasemble it and paint em for a extra clean job

and keep all the stock stuff for warranty

L.P. 07-29-2008 03:23 AM

That is what I plan on doing...no point in paying that much money for something you can get for much cheaper..of course they are going to say it was for R&D cost...which may be true. You can do a lot better things with $600.

REIGN SS 07-29-2008 03:44 AM

I was waiting for one of these threads...

TurboSS 07-29-2008 04:18 PM

$600.00 for piping? I can buy a lot of beer and make it myself for $600.00. Dues any one know how or who they got the recycling bov unit for the charge pip? It it GM's or after market?

SynapseTurbo 07-29-2008 04:29 PM

the bov is built into the turbocharger, our charge piping doesnt affect that.

Our charge piping which we sell on cobaltss.net for $499 includes the highest quality 4 ply silicon couplers and t bolts, the same hardware we use in the 700+whp cars we build in the shop. It also includes a CNC'd bracket to house the intake air temp sensor, and vacuum line fittings. We offered to sell just the custom piping powdercoated with cnc adapter for $350.

We can garantee you will not be getting near the same quality as our kit for $200.

How

Do you get the boost to 23 psi.

TurboSS 07-29-2008 04:36 PM

wow thats cool but the bov is not in the turbo. the box that holds that air temp sensor has a vacuum line that gos to a splitter that then gos to the turbo. "recycling bov" so how did you get the air sensor? Is it from gm or is it after market?

the blow off valve recirculates air from the pressurized side of the compressor housing into the other.

im not sure what you mean how did we get the air sensor?

here is a picture of the bov built into the turbo:
