P2261 with GFB DV+
P2261 with GFB DV+
Okay... 2009 SS... Two week ago, I installed a GFB DV+ along with a ZZP intake and exhaust. I had the preload screw set pretty tight and popped a P2261 for the bpv sticking. I figured the ECM was interpreting the bpv delayed opening as a sticking problem, so I backed out the preload. Set the code again. Backed it out almost all the way, set the code again. Now I know the point of the aftermarket bpv is to stay closed longer to prevent boost leakage (I'm an ASE Master Tech and have been building high HP cars for decades). Is this just something you have to live with with a GFB DV+? I don't mind really as it doesn't affect driveability. I just don't like having lights on the dash. It only takes about 5 minutes to swap the stock one back in to pass smog, just an annoyance I'd like to deal with if it can be dealt with.
Haven't heard of many running GFB parts on the cobalts, but I would double check the stupid simple stuff, like the solenoid plug, vacuum lines/routing, etc. Another quick test is to rev it up in neutral and see if you get a turkey gobbling or Zoidberg sound when you left off, or if you get this sound anytime when letting off after building some boost.
It's nothing outside of the bpv itself. With the stock one, I don't get the code. If it was a hose or solenoid, I'd have the code with both. I only get the normal bpv "whoosh" when letting off. I have the ZZP intake, so it's very audible.
It wasn't clear that you had swapped the stock back in and the code went away.
If you get the normal bpv sound from the GFB part, then it's likely the GFB bpv is doing something the ECU doesn't like so either live with the light or shut the code off in hptuners.

There's a select few i'd trust with tuning these cars especially an LNF. Lots do remote tuning where you send your data logs to a tuner and they send you a revised calibration through hptuners.
