PCV Install
Is it easy to replace the PCV valve? Mine is looking pretty crappy and frail. Would it be simpler just to add one down the line
Oil Catch Cans - MPx Check Valve (Prevent PCV destruction and pressurizing cylinder head!)
I see a lot of them for sale but no how-tos or general info other than (it goes here).

I have to admit to being confused. The PCV valve in a 2.0 liter LNF engine is INSIDE the intake manifold., sandwiched between the intake and the cylinder head. So, to see it you have already removed the intake manifold from the engine and the PCV valve from the intake manifold.
That's the only way to see that your PCV valve is weak and frail.
If you've gone that far, of course you would change it. It's only $8.10 from Rock Auto.

Still don't know what you mean. Air goes through the air filter, past the MAF sensor, into the turbo. There is an intake for the PCV system plumbed into the side of the plastic intake tube just after the MAF, but there is no check valve there. Kind of comes into the stock intake tube at an angle and has a steel braided line attached to it. No check valve though.
From the turbo into the intercooler then into the throttle body. Still no check valve.
Maybe a picture of what you're talking about might help?

It's the one you mentioned right after the MAF, I had assumed that was a one way valve for PCV vent but I don't know why.
Also you can see my sweet custom hose clamps here

It's a somewhat modified setup for the aftermarket intake.
And it is a check valve, supposed to keep the crankcase from pressurizing oil back into the intake when the engine is under boost. Doesn't actually work in practice.
I would say that as long as you have no air leaks in that setup and you're not getting MAP error codes you probably shouldn't mess with it.

thats the fresh air inlet line and it is a check valve and it stops air going backwards into the air inlet and oil if that does occur ( it should not) and its a darn fine check valve. The new upgraded on atlsilverss is referring to takes the stress off the plastic nipple on the stock inlet tube that breaks all the time. Sox fan is right, the stock pcv valve in the IM is very robust and not easily accessed.
MPX generally seem to sell cheap stuff without a lot of science behind it, based on what I have seen.

Mine is stretched to the point it's barely on there.
