Piston Ring Failure (lots of pics of inside an LNF)
I agree on the low-RPM boost. Even at low throttle but still under light boost the engine even sounds different below that RPM vs above that RPM.
I'm on the road right now, but would it be alright if I PM you some questions when I get back?
His guideline also assumes that there is nothing wrong like an intake tract leak. If you have a post MAF leak for example, you'll be taking in unmetered air, if it's on the low pressure side. A leak on the high pressure side would cause the turbo to work harder, producing higher EGTs.
A 5% error in fueling could easily be the cause of problems like this when you're under high loads.

The old saying is: if you can't afford to pay, don't play ... too hard anyway
think long and hard before tuning your cars, especially when you yourself have no control over the tune in many cases.

OP: Are they still fixing that under warranty? With the damage you've shown..... please don't take this wrong, but it seems like it would be pretty obvious at this point the motor was pushed hard. Broken ring lands, beat to **** bearings.... all classic tell-tale signs.

Yes, mine was under warranty.
We should start an LNF pics thread.
So as I read this thread, I see 2 maybe 3 cars that have had issues with the rings? Almost everyone on this site has a tune and if you speak to people that tune for a living, they have sold hundreds of them. So we have at least a few hundred tuned vehicles, with who knows what kind of shitty maintenance done to them, driven who knows how hard, putting who knows how shitty gas in them.... Take all that into account and some people on here are trying to blame GM engineers and say these are shitty motors??? Man some of you need to just buy a civic and not put a single mod on it...

If it's properly tuned and there are no problems, you can beat on the car when it's up to temp. Shouldn't be a problem to wring it out hard.
I doubt anyone with a stock car has had any ringland failures. I mean bone stock. Not just an intake or cp or exhaust or "just a tune". I mean STOCK.
