Power gains with 3" exhaust?
So, i was wondering if anyone had info on what type of power gain, if any, there was with going from a stock exhaust, to a 3"?
I have a catted Turbo-xs down-pipe and stock exhaust with muffler delete, and it sounds pretty good, but now that i'm tuned, i want to know im breathing properly for my power..
I hold 25psi till about 5700rpms and then I drop to about 23psi till 6200 redline just o give you an idea of what kinda tune i have.
I am planning to do a 3" muffler deleted set-up and possibly keeping the stock resonator.

i think i read that the gains are minimal minus sound, thats why i havent swapped mine out, im running a 3" catless DP and a stock cat back with muffler delete as well. the 5-10hp increase isnt really worth $500 to me right now

Yeah, if you go on MODERN PERFORMANCE website, their MPX 3" is supposedly dynoed @ 12whp!!!
If thats the case, then any 3" is gonna have the same power because it is the same design for every company...
Plus, I was just gonna have my local exhaust shop make it, rather than waste $4-600...
$120 with an upgraded tip, $100 without...

haha..I have a muffler delete right now on the stock system, and it gurgles pretty good, but at wot, it sounds a little choked...
Anyone have a video without the stock resonator on? I may just rip that off too since my down-pipe is catted...lol

so everyone seems to be in aggreeance with me getting a 3" with deleted muffler and resonator...Hopefully the sound is as good as what I have, and hopefully the 12whp average is correct too.
Dont do it! Sounds horrible and way too loud. I have a 3” with 2 race mufflers and a turbo at the end and its still sounds like ****. Im considering spending the money to go back to a 2.5” even if I do happen to lose a few horsepower. Who knows, I may even gain a few back.

well, im sure there is some kind of catch, but my car is tuned with the normal bolt-ons, so it should go nicely.
