alright as im getting ready to replace a burnt piston, i just want to gather all the special tools i will need to get the job done. so far i have:

feeler gauge
cylinder bore gauge
micrometer
beam-style torque wrench
flex-hone tool
piston ring compressor

does anybody have anything to add?

 

Plasti gauge - should check your bearing clearances while you're in there.

and a drill for the hone

 

eh i think im ok with the bearing clearances. nifty tool tho...

do you have stuff to put over the rod studs so you dont score the crank or cylinder walls when re-installing the piston?

 

Are you going to have to adjust your rings? ring file?

 

im going to hold up on the ring file and just buy one on the spot in the case that they arent gapped correctly.

for the rod studs, i can just wrap them with painters tape or something, no biggie.

 

bump. never rebuilt an lnf. if somebody has can they chime in!
