right, like i said. after every season

you were saying "after every bracket race" which, that isn't even the type of racing they do.

Just don't go too crazy or beyond your budget. You don't want to be like the poor guy who was determined to go RWD.

Install update #1

Just about finished installing the ZZP 82# Springs & Retainers and the Viton Ecotec Valve seals..

Just cracked open the valve cover for the 50th time.. geez..

FYI: Prior to installing the Viton Ecotec Valve seals, use a small model paint brush to add a little oil on the inside of them.. It makes it alot easier to slip them on the valve stem while installing them. Also make sure they are flat and level on spring seat..

I'm very happy, I got the Viton Ecotec Valve seals b/c the OE weren't looking good - I'll post pics on monday. On 70% of them, where the rubber is bonded to the metal - you can see the rubber wasn't holding up, it was almost falling apart.. I'm guessing either it's from extreme heat or boost traveling up the valve guide or the oil is eating them up.. or it's just plain normal wear..

On monday, install the cams, "write" the cam file.. do the "ten mile drive cycle"..

Install update #2

this what I've installed - in the last two days..

- Viton Ecotec Valve seals
- ZZP 82# Valve springs
- New Camshaft Cap bolts
- ZZP Stage 1 Cams w/BFFL "Big F'in Fuel Lobe"
- New VVT sprocket bolts
- New Cam timing chain
- New Cam timing chain tensioner
- New valve cover gasket
- 1qt - Royal Purple - Max-Tuff Assembly lube - heavy coats on everything..
- 4.5qt - Royal Purple - Break-in oil for 100 mile, then change to RP XPR oil..
- Everything has been checked, fitted & torqued to spec, as per SI.

tomorrow..
- Install my updated S-Max FMIC [modified for liquid C02]
- Install new NO2 & CO2 lines - re-route & test [Maple raceway failed me on tech inspection last month b/c the NOS and CO2 lines need to be mounted away from the fuel lines.]

this weekend..
- Hard wire - ZZP 5th injector controller

this is what I'll install at ZZP..
ZZP 5th Injector w/ZZP re-tune

I have a few other things that need to get installed as well..

4 months later.. update...

Got most of kinks out of the setup.. Only one problem... I get a P0087 & 89.. this only happens after when I cruise for an extended period of time [25-30 mile drive] only with the A/C on [engine load], but it doesn't happen when the A/C is off?? and it doesn't happen when cruising around town??

Other than that.. she's brutal. I'll post video during next Saturday $$ meet..

some say, during late night runs.. they can hear her from 1/2 mile away...

P0087 - Fuel Rail Pressure Malfunction - Pressure Too Low
- Faulty fuel pump
- Blocked fuel filter
- Faulty fuel pressure solenoid
- Faulty Fuel injector

P0089 - Fuel Pressure 1 - Control Performance
- Fuel pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Fuel pressure sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty fuel pressure sensor
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

all that money you plan on putting in your car and you want to do street runs for you to get causght lose license car, and maybe they auction it off and maybe hurt someone in the process. if thats yourframe of mind then i hope you get the priorities in which you plan on uising your car in order. BUT hey if the impound your car i'll be waiting for parts. I can see highway runs MAYBE some of us just hav empty stretches at late hours but street runs where ppl are already hyped off stupidity and crowding around its only a matter of time. good numbers though love the build just hope u change from the street racing part!

How are you tuning for a 4 or 5 bar MAP sensor?

P0087 - Fuel Rail Pressure Malfunction - Pressure Too Low
- Faulty fuel pump
- Blocked fuel filter
- Faulty fuel pressure solenoid
- Faulty Fuel injector

P0089 - Fuel Pressure 1 - Control Performance
- Fuel pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Fuel pressure sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty fuel pressure sensor
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
I got those codes back when my HPFP was on its way out, and again when I was at the limits of E85. If you're getting them later when you're just cruising though then the HPFP may be going out. Perhaps the HPFP tables need to be bumped up though for your setup, but that's not as likely since you're just cruising.

The P0089 is caused by an absolute deviation of actual from commanded. The P0087 is caused by the actual being low by a percentage under the commanded, so getting one usually includes the other too.

I can dig up the ECU test triggers for these codes if that would help. What may be happening is it's meeting a quantity or cumulative time requirement, and then the code shows up later once that's met.

first - we use to do runs legally at Maple Raceway. but the owners got wind we were $$ racing, so they grab our plates and toss us out for good..

second - most of the runs are done on a former Mexican highway after 2am, the road is closed since 2001, so no one is around that time.. and for the folks who do show up know the rules of the game.. if they don't follow the rules they are ban from coming back or drawing in on the pot..
