Question Quick Clutch install questions

OK so I'll be installing my Exedy Hypersingle this evening (and probably into tomorrow as well). I'm going to be following the how-to's on here as best as possible...though they are all for LSJ's....So the question is...how different are the installs? I would assume outside of the LSJ specific stuff like the IC pump, they should be relatively similar. Any insight from those who have done it? Both How-to's are in this thread. The one is within the first post and the other is that GMPD how-to.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...lywheel-19283/

Here's the differences I've noted based on someone elses post a while ago in a thread I can't remember.

"The Axle nut is MUCH larger than the LSJ. Still haven't gotten a good answer on what size it is, I had a 34mm socket, which was too small. The link I posted to the LSJ procedure states 30mm.

-the ECU bracket is not a separate piece - the fuse box has to be loosened/removed to get to the top mount (not hard)

-There is no stock engine hanger on the LNF, as there was on the LSJ, so you need to fashion something to hang the engine from when working under it

-obviously the steps about removing the intake on the LSJ do not apply, as the intake is on the opposite side of the car on the LNF

I didn't go much farther than that. Still need to see if there are differences in the number/size of the transmission bolts (iirc the howto for the LSJ states there are 7 bolts). Under the car I can only see 3, 4 if you include the one hidden behind the starter."

The majority of the process is exactly the same, as far as bolts and whatever. There are 5, two on the oil pan flange, one over the starter, and two by the rear trans mount point over the axle. The LNF axle nuts are 36mm. The fuse box, i've had best results in taking it loose from the car and gently moving it enough to get at the top trans mount bolts, but leaving it all plugged in. Avoids problems later on. As far as supporting the engine while the trans is out, I've always used a jack under it, so that tab on top hasn't been an issue, but you could easily put a strap around the intake manifold and use that to hang the engine from if you want.

I was gunna go with the spec 3+, but as you may know, I got an unbelievable deal on this setup. But I'll be sure to note any hang-ups and complications that arise and let you know!

PS. Is your number still the same?

I've heard great things of both. The ZZP Stage 4 was on my short list as well. But for the price I got the hypersingle at...I couldn't pass it up. $825 shipped for a brand new hypersingle, new slave, and new ARP flywheel bolts.
