Quick, possibly silly question
The outside temperature displayed on my dash is sometimes correct but usually it's wrong. Sometimes it's off by ten degrees or more. I'm pretty sure that the dash temperature sensor is in the fender behind the driver's side headlight and isn't tied to any temp sensor that could affect fuel trims or anything but I wanted to make sure. The timing or whatever is dictated by the MAF right?
Let me know if I'm wrong and should be concerned or not.
Thanks.

By dash, do you mean RPD? And by temperature, do you mean outside or intake air temp?
If you're talking about the "Intake Air Temp" on the RPD, then that is the IAT2 (post intercooler) temp taken by the TMAP in the coldside pipe and affects timing and such. You may notice the RPD temp displayed lag a bit behind another gauge monitoring the same thing at times because it has some smoothing built into the reading.

Oh okay, the DIC. No, that temp is the outside/ambient temp. Now that one does use the temp probe you're referring to. It doesn't really affect timing, nor is it associated with the MAF in any way.
That will most likely be lower than your IAT1/IAT2 temps most of the time.
