Quick Question
Quick Question
Ok, I'm probably going to get flamed for this pretty bad, but what exactly is the "pill mod"? I've never heard of this and when I searched for it, I didn't find anything. Can anyone fill me in on this topic? All I know is that it's kinda like a MBC..
Pm byt he's running it. I can kinda explain it but I don't wanna be wrong. I know it has to do with a welding tip and you insert it into a line that goes to the turbo n what not. U won't get flamed this isthe reason forums exist. But of course there are some dumb ***** that will be like haha u noob **** em though
I'm not saying I'm going to be trying it, I'm already getting a 3076 for the car anyways, I was just wondering what it does and how it works.. I've never heard of this except from a few people that have mentioned it.
it basically just raises u boost, like a boost controler, why they dont just run a tune with higher psi instead of waisting time doing that since they have to tune it anyway, i dont know. sounds like a exrta step that doesnt have to be there to me.
A small opening MIG welding tip, like an .030 for instance inserted in one of the lines going to the boost control solenoid restricts the flow slowing the opening of the wastegate and raising the boost. You need to be able to reprogram the Desired Air Load table (DAL) with HP Tuners ect to control the amount of boost.
This is a workaround since we don't have wastegate control in the HPTuner's software. It raises boost in the midrange the most (at least mine does). The boost still tapers off as you approach redline when the turbo gets tapped out.
The welding tip is nicknamed the pill.
Hope that helps a bit.

seriously u guy with the pill mod, why do u need it when u can just raise the boost in ur tune? i mean ur tuneing it anyway, why the extra step, i dont get it, is there any benifit to do it like that instead of just raising the psi in the ecu?
There are tables not accessible to us with HPT so the only way to get more than 22 psi boost is to fool the boost control solenoid into thinking it has less boost than actual so it will raise the output.
