Removing RPD

I was thinking about removing my RPD in my 2010 SS and just buying a 3 guage pod instead. Now how would i go about removing the RPD and all of the wires used for it? I was just going to turn around and sell the rpd to buy my new guage pod setup.

Ya i would probably just end up selling it since id have no use for it anymore. I read you have to mod the harness because the car no longer wants to start without the rpd is this true?

Not sure but why wouldn't you want something as awesome as the RPD?

I like the look of guages better than the one screen and if i want to monitor something else i have to switch the screen rather than just having 3 guages to look at rather then tryin to move and change the screen

Get a gauge cluster pod and leave the RPD alone. That way you can put 2 gauges in the cluster and still be able to use the RPD. What gauges do you want? Interceptors?

ZZP is working on a 2 gauge + RPD pod similar to their OEM-looking 3 gauge pods. It won't be done for quite some time according to them, but it'll be worth the wait once it comes out.

That wouldn't be very hard to make yourself. Just buy a triple pod and cut the bottom pod off and do the same with the stock pillar and mold them together. Wrap it in your choice of vinyl or other fabric and your done.

This one retains the OEM look. I get what you're suggesting but in this case its about form over function.

You do need to mod the harness or it will not let you start the car, but I am not sure how, sorry.

Hmm too bad someone that knows how to work with fiberglass doesn't get on this... I bet a surfer could make something like that... Oh wait thats me. I'm working on something right now but working nights doesn't leave me much time. I'll put up some pictures when I get more done. What size gauges are you going to be using, as in diameter?

Yes but from all accounts so far it will only read metric regardless of which setting you have your DIC set to.

Not questioning your decision, but why remove the rpd to jusst turn around and put 2 intercepters in when you have to flip throught them as well? Just wondering

NO RPD = NO start have not looked into why but I remember from when i pulled my dash out to remove a piece of foam in the heater box tried to start the car to check the mode doors and yea no start. It came down to the RPD being unplugged.
