Reprogramming the RPD
Reprogramming the RPD
anyone ever looked into customizing/reprogramming the rpd to display different data, or anything like that, I would just like my boost gauge to display vac too, but i'm sure there are lots of possibilities.
Dont think there is any aftermarket, its basically taking sensors from your car and putting them on a screen UI. You can get other gauges that can take use of these sensors as well.
I wish you could customize it as well, Id love to see my speed and boost on the screen at once :|

What I'd love to know... is can it be customized to show what you brothers down in the USA have.
Try being at your next meet, and explaining to someone that you run 134.7KPA with your GMS1, instead of just saying 22-23psi.
******* Canada.

^....you can make it display in English units you know...press and hold the info and enter button on your steering wheel, scroll through the options on the DIC until you get to units...select English, and now your boost is in psi!

I've tried that before with no success? I always figured it was a general owner's manual, and you guys down South had that option built in, and we didn't get it. Now I want to know why that doesn't work!
You got more colors and the sedan, so I didn't question why this didn't work either.
Thanks boys!

lol Canada got the same colors and the sedan SS as well as far as I knew? I could be wrong though?
Try swapping the units over again and see if it changes. If is doesn't work you should bring it to the dealer and get them to check it out!

and mine switches from english to metric when I change the d.i.c. setting, and I am in canada
maybe trying scrolling through screens on the rpd and d.i.c. and shut off the car and open the door and then go and try it again

... I was told there are absolutely no SS/TC sedans in Canada at all. Perhaps that's Alberta only?
I'm gonna be some pissed if I find out I was mislead, and I could have bought my car in a sedan.
I'm being quite serious... is there a single Canadian member with an SS purchased IN Canada?

Yeah there are a a few who have them on here. I'll see if I can find some member names for you.
Cobalt_Daddy is one member in NS who has a blue sedan.
aweSOMeBalt is another member in BC who has a sport red sedan.
So yeah, you definitely were mislead!

Ah... Cobalt SS/TC sedans were only built for one year. Does that stand true for the USA as well?
I was originally interested in a dark red sedan, but those options weren't even in the 2010 catalogue, so I settled on my second choice, which was a black coupe.
Just went and tried to change over to imperial again... got it to stick. I didn't realize how touchy the buttons were and apparently I was hitting that twice, and just reverting back to factory settings again, haha. I feel like an idiot now... I work on cars for a living.

On a related note I just wish our stupid boost gauge on the RPD read vacuum.
and the vac thing is my motivation for making this thread lol
I'm glad I got that all cleared up and my RPD reads in psi! Woot!
Ive only seen one 4 door SS here, at the dealership. I think it was someones car who works there, other than that.. id guess there is less than 10 LNF's in total in my city.. but who knows.
DashDAQ from Drew Technologies
I just saw this on another forum, where a guy had a HHR SS RPD and this side by side as part of a custom project. I don't know anything about it, but it seems pretty cool.
