Rocker Arms!!

So today i pulled my valve cover off because of an ticking sound that just came about. Nothing was broke but 5 of the rocker arms were loose, and when i say loose i mean when the cam's lobe is straight up to the sky. i could almost take the out without un bolting the cam. is there any adjustment for this.it was 3 exh and 2 int. Do I just buy new rockers.I have the zzp valve springs otherwise stock head. any help is appreciated.

i would say you have lifters that are taking a ****. the lifters are supposed to fill that gap up with spring tension when the engine is off so they stay close on startup until oil pressure gets to them and takes over.

does your ride tick really bad on cold start up and then get quieter after a bit?

the rockers are stationary on the valve tip then the roller touches the lobe and on the other side is the lifter(aka lash adjuster). these sit in the cylinder head where they have a built in oil passage surrounding them, when the engine is on oil pressure fill the lifter(lash adjuster) up and extends it thus lifting that side of the rocker. this lifting pushes the roller of the rocker into the cam lobe keeping it in contact during engine running.

once full and pressure and it is maintained, the lifter is so hard to push back down that when the cam lobe comes to around to open the valve it will not compress thus making the valve end of the rocker move and open the valve.

so, 1 i would check your oil pressure and 2 if the pressure is ok you probably have a shot set of lifters.. zzp and ced should have them.

yea well at lest your not this guy who used his lnf head as a test peice for a full port job and it didnt turn out good for factory turbo setups, but also has full ferrea setup and now needs to find a new factory head. id rather pay for a set of lifters and swap the springs to the zzp 78lbers while i was in there instead of trying to find a complete new head.

sometimes **** happens and you have no say or cant prevent whats coming. at least you havnt fully ejected a rocker. that sucks alot as well specially when its from a broken spring or something like that.

If the click super loud and you can give a minor rev and they don't fill like very slow to fill up that's when you'd be concerned. If you run prolonged high rpm for some reason the motors don't like that but it's usually the springs causing the problem
