running like crap after a long road trip

anyone else experience this? It was misfiring and breaking up real bad anything above 3500rpm. turned on my tune and got on it in 1st and ran it up through 3rd and it's been fine since. I guess cruise control for over 100 miles one way at 2500rpm made it load up or something. I've experienced this a lot in my nova but never in a newer car lol.

Nah, I just did a 600 mile round trip with driving a ton at the location including a little playing in the mountians with a spec b and there are no problems above 3k. All of my problems are in low rpm and the problem is compressor surge or BPV flutter not sure which but my car sounds like a horse at low throttle when I let off.

That is strange. It should not do that. You should data log it while it is doing that to see why.

vince did say that he saw my car gets really rich between shifts and had no idea why. Could it be caused by filter position do you think? I have the K&N SRI and right now the line in the filter is turned to about 2:00-3:00 position.

Do you have BOV?
As long as the DFCO is still functioning the A/F should go lean right as you shift as the ECM tells the injectors to cut as you shift.

If it sounds like this, bu maybe not quite so loud, your noise is normal. It's left over boost when the throttle body closes all of a sudden. With my mods this is exactly what my car sounds like. really! Be prepared!

no, only mods are intake, catless dp, and injen cp. it does go lean like it should, but he said it had a rich spike also. I could be mistaken, but I'll have to wait until the 15th to log it.. trifecta is closed until then.

i wonder if it was bad gas. I did take the car to orlando before and it did ok, i just remembered. I guess that means its either the tune or bad gas... the thing is, it did it tune on and off.

my guess is that you filled up at a station on the way there that didnt exactly have premium in that pump or it was ethanol loaded which would mess with your tune

Time to do a compression check. All that smoke is a bad sign.

Probly smoking because of the rich swing. Are you trying to nls or just rolling into the throttle?

If the misfire in consistant it may be a coil pack

It does it on the 2-3 shift with nls, but once I got back from my trip, it did it in any gear but with no smoke, just misfire and stuttering. Once i got on it hard it stopped. Today though it did it on 2-3 nls and then smoothed out right away.

Forgot to mention, no cel or anything, but I didn't scan it either. I guess I'll just take it real easy till trifecta opens again

I had something very similar happen driving home from Michigan once. The car just felt flat and didn't want to pick up and go at all! A friend behind me said it smoked as I got on it. I pulled over, ran a log and had a cam phaser code pending (I cant remember what the code was right now) but I cleared the pending code and the car was back to normal. Never had it happen again but I also havent drove the car 6-8hrs straight since lol

yeah this was about a 4hr drive home from orlando to west palm beach. took so long because it was raining REALLY hard the entire way and I couldn't go over 50 because of all the traffic. I'm going to look for codes when I get off work today.
