Running "two" RPDs?

Anyone try this?

No I dont want dual interceptors.....trying something different can be okay.

I was interested in adding a HHR SS RPD dash top to my current RPD Cobalt.

well the interceptors is fine but just wondered about this. I always liked that dash top rpd on the hhr ss.

The cobalt top dash seems like its missing something and that rpd would be perfect.

I was looking at getting a custom adaptor made to split it among both rpds.

I wonder though if I turn the knob on one would it switch screens on the other too? If so then this would not be of interest.

I don't think the RPD will function properly on an hhr if I remember correctly. Someone correct me if I am wrong... And I don't know if anyone has connected a pair in parrallel yet or if they will even play nice with each other. Always looking to see new things though

Idk, but running 2 things on obd2 at the same time doesn't usually work. Idk how intercepter gets around that, but iv tried a splitter and it's just a mess. Let us know if u can

I never understood the shape of the RPD, to begin with. It just looks like a plastic brick.

I've got the RPD and run a Dashdaq just up the pillar from it. OBDII/car works fine.

Good point

So if the Cobalt originally came with the car, just use the how to on wiring another RPD up into the OBD2 port. Should be good to go.

fixed

Well although that would normally be a good way to tackle it, I'm not sure if that'd work in this case due to how the GMLAN works. You'd need to think it through, since you wouldn't be able to wire it in parallel to the other one. It's a serial bus (the reason behind if you disconnect it the whole car can't talk to its various modules and the car won't run), so you'd have to tap the GMLAN on the same circuit, but upstream or downstream of the other RPD on the circuit probably as well. The wiring schematics available may shed some light on possible ideas.

I can hear the HHR engineers now...”Oh ****! We forgot to add that RPD thing Billy was talking about. Let’s just throw it right in the middle here...perfect!”
