Should i do a muffler delete
Should i do a muffler delete
i have an 08 tc stock. i plan on getting a full exhaust soon but until then i was thinking of going with the muffler delete. what you guys think?
muffler delete. better yet leave the stock exhaust on and get a dp. Thats what im doing. the stock exhaust is a really good one. 2.5" equal bend tubing. sounds pretty good too. with a DP it will still sound the same under normal driving, but when you go WOT, it will sound awesome.
im gonna get the 3" DP, then get myself a custom 3" catback. i just cant justify 600 for a piece of pipe. hear you can get a mendrel custom for like 200bucks if you find a shop that mendrel bends
Depends on what you want to do.
It kicks me out of the street drag class (cars must be muffled).
It prevents me from participating in autocross (again, cars must be muffled).
So I thought about it then said no- because it's an all show/no go maneuver that prevents me from doing what I wanted to do.
*edit, and also, most road racetracks require you to be muffled on track days.

. Maybe it's a workaround if it's stock. When I did the paperwork at my local 1/4mile- was on the form and on the entrance for the participants 'must be muffled'.Well hell, I just looked it up and cut and pasted from website:
"Only street-legal and muffled machines are permitted to participate. Fully rigged race cars are turned away, although street-legal racers do have their choice of running either street tires or drag slicks for added traction. The Firebird Night Fever Street Legal events feature time trials and grudge racing only, which gives each racer the opportunity to make the maximum number of passes. Grudge racing permits participants to choose their competition rather than participate in an organized eliminator. Win or lose, participants may return to the staging lanes for more time trials or grudge runs."
So if I don't have a muffler, I have to go to the open events where cars are doing 10's and I'm in the way.
i just got back from the shop that just did my muffler delete and i love it and i dont do any auto-x so im not worried about any of that stuff but if you do looks like you should check the rules before getting stuff done to your car.
i know this must have been talked about b4 but i was just curious as to how loud the car really is with a muffler delete cuz i just got my ss/tc 2 weeks ago and i want it to be louder but not to the point of drawing attention from cops like my last car i got followed everywhere i went with that thing
