Sooooo, if I go Superchips tuning......

Im sure its been asked before, and I tried to search for an answer, but didnt find much. If I go with superchips and have to have something done at the dealer and revert back to stock, is it detectable by Chevy?

Thank you.

You should get a Trifecta switchable tune that way it can't be detected by any dealerships. That's what I'm planning on getting as soon as I find some time.

Does the VCM have to be programed to the specific car, or can you just buy it and pop it in when needed? And how much are they?

No, you can get it vin matched, doesn't matter though. Spare ECU/VCM/PCM, etc. will run you $215 or more

Look for someone who is selling one on this site. Vin's don't have to match, hell it could be blank. Swap out ECu before taking in for warranty work. Tkaes 2 minutes

because spending 600 bux on a new ecu and superchips is a better idea then spending 300 on a trifecta switch and hide tune

^^ should do research before jumping onto a tune (superchips, HP, trifecta). I spent $300 for everything, including tune

I still don't trust the switchable/hideable tune, just my .02 though

Nice. I had an SRT4 when they first came out, and to swap ecm's the vin would have to be flashed or it wouldnt start.

Do you really think superchips is going to pay $$ for you if their canned tune threw your valves to poo? don't let their marketing ploy mislead you.

I personally went HP and couldn't be happier. Just my .02 again.

Ill take custom tuning over a canned tune anyday. And I did Some people will agree, and some wont. Doesnt change the fact that he can still retain warranty with a custom tune, which is the topic here

Im considering the trifecta tune,.....I like that its undetectable by the dealer. But.....what if there is an update to the stock software and the dealer updates it? Am I just SOL?

The trifecta tune is not undetectable by the dealership........ It passes a simple calibration CVN test done with tech 2 . If they don't go any farther than that your cool.....but if they want to dig deeper ....they will find it .

I know your lips are touching Trifecta's ***** and all with the amount their cack is down their throat, but a spare ECU is 250 shipped with a matching VIN

Some people don't want to have to email someone across the country.

Some people want to custom tune it themselves.

i know your lips are touching hptuners *****..

but 250 shipped with matching vin then 350 for the superchips cortex.. equals how much

drumrolll .. 600 bux.. have a nice day ...

i know some people like tuning it themselves but not everyone wants to learn how.. i'm saying to go with trifecta or hptuners.. NOT SC thats all .. stop being a douch ...

i understand trifecta isnt for everyone .. but basically sc is for no one.. more money then any other tunes.. and very little gains if you're looking at SC you might as well get the GMs1 since it gave the same gains and it's full warranty

and I asked vince about it

"if gm releases a tune update for a car and they flash a tuned car with inifiniboost/ select tune and hide a tune will it over right everything?"

his response

"that depends on whether the tune update includes an OS change or not, if it does, then yes. If it does not, then no" so basically what i said

and i'm "on trifectas cack" because heaven forbid i support a company that continues to push advancements for our cars.. and do new things...

lets not turn this into a trifecta vs hptuners battle there are enough of those already.. lets agree that SC suck *****
