wow they have just about everything lol. Do you think that 3787's are good to run just with the stage1 tune or would recommend factory replacements. People have been saying about going 1 step colder with the 3787 just wondering if that is the plug i should get since i only have stage1. And could someone clarify exactly what does 1 step colder mean?

A colder plug has a shallower depth around the center electrode & porcelain allowing the heat to transfer away from the plug faster, lowering the plug temperature.

Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spark_plug#Heat_range
If the boost is increased, 1 step colder is suitable.

You should be fine with a tighter gapped factory plug on GMS1.

Ordered 3787 from Amazon and they came to $41 and change with free super saver shipping. The down side is, I probably wont get them for about 2 weeks. Oh well, I'm in no hurry.

That's what I was hoping, even though they tell you 2-4 weeks.

Interesting. I'm now pushing 24-25lbs. 3787's as one step colder seem to be the favorites here but if NGK recommends the 5476's........? Are THOSE colder too? Whats my best option? Will plugs justify a re-tune?

I believe the 5476 are the stock heat range. No tune change needed, normally you run 1 step colder because of a higher boost tune.

Well the best i can find is about $45 for the 3787s. Modern Performance has what i believe is a comparable plug for $30. Heres the link http://www.modernperformance.com/iri...bo-p-2013.html Id like some input as to what the difference is other than price.

Those are the NGK 6509's and they come gapped to .044, they will work fine if you carefully gap them down to .032. Don't hit the center electrode when gapping them.

I ran 6510's (2 ranges colder) for around 15k miles with no issues.

I will have to check this against my race motor plugs this season, never heard of this method.
always read the porcelain and ground strap to check heat range..intrested to see if it matches up.

My stockers never lasted that long. I think the longest I went with OEM plugs was about 7k miles before I could tell they needed to be changed.

I run stock plugs.

Tried the platinum in the same heat range, car wouldn't rev past 5k

And whatever the gap is when they come out of the box is the gap I run. Gapping iridiums is a royal PITA.

This...I'm nearing the 20k mark (tuned since about 2500 miles) and the car runs fine...no knock even on my most recent (and more aggressive) retune. I'm going to try out the 3787s and see if I can squeeze another degree or 2 of timing out of her up top though

i've already got my complimentary oil change, but sometimes i feel it idle a little strangely and am wanting to change the plugs anyways.

what are you guys running and at what gap?

http://www.woodys-auto-supply.com/au...?prod=NGK-3787
i was looking to put these on but not sure at what gap.

lmk.
thanks in advanced for the input.

Haza
what intake do you have on the car?

the reason I'm asking is the CAI cause idle surge which causes a rough idle.

Putting some tape over the fog light hole on the passenger's side eliminated that problem.
