SS info

Hello everyone.

My current situation is, I have a 2010 cobalt LT. I wanted to make more power out of that. But, I have been realizing for some time that it would not be very much and very difficult to do. Not many parts out there.

So I'm posting here because I wanted to know more information about getting an SS. Any information would be great, such as looking for one at a dealer vs private sale, etc.

Thank you in advance.

Just make sure it already went through the recall so you don't die.

There are enough parts out there to make u happy . Zzp performance has everything u need for making an lt fast. It will just end up being more of a headache and cost than getting a ss in the end I think, that is if ur not doing it urself

Lol at recall advice. My ignition is still fine 8 years and 130k kms later.

Don't waste your time. Just pick up a LSJ for like 5 grand go ZZP "stage 2" and you'll be happy.

I would be looking into getting the LNF. I like the idea of the turbo over the supercharged. So far I have only found a 2009 ss with 74k miles for about 10k.

Also, I know that zzp could help make my current cobalt faster. But, I don't know if it would be worth the cost. I would be doing all of the work myself, except for maybe the tuning. But, even then I would get a tuner either way I went.

People still hate on the sc but it's way more fun than a base. You can buy a lsj(stage 3) for 5 or 6k and have ALMOST just as much fun as getting a lnf. If you get bored then throw a turbo kit on it. Obviously the lnf is better but that doesn't mean the lsj isn't fun.

But check out some ss on here for sale there are lots of nice ones

I have said before, that I would be doing all of the work on mods and upgrades. But, as for turning a LSJ into a turbo, while it already has a supercharger would be more money than I would want to spend for a turbo car.

I just think I would enjoy a turbo more than supercharger. I understand that both can be fast. I just haven't been moved to go for the sc over the tc

It really depends on the type of driving you do. I drive a lot of highway so the TC is fun but around town a stage 2 LSJ is good because of the instant torque.

I do a mixture of both types of driving as where I live has lots of open road between the towns. There isn't too much city driving.

Iv driven a probably stock lsj, there is no instant torque. The peak tq comes in at 4400 rpm where as tc it comes in at 2000 rpm. Just cause the supercharger boosts instantly doesn't mean ur gonna get all that power instantly.

For the LNF you need to be full throttle for those numbers. Not really practical for bombing around town.

LSJ has a quick and punchy bottom end.

It's a noticeable difference.

I don't need to be full throttle. I have to be carful how I push the throttle or I spin period. guess it depends on the tune.

You're turbo swapped and fully bolted. Can't really compare.

im not turbo swapped and I can tell you a tuned LNF on all seasons can spin like a motherf*cker. They have plenty of low end torque.

Its what he's looking for, im sure of it.

I'm really on the fence on which I want to do, get an ss or just keep my car. I will be getting a z06 in a few years. But that is far off. So I want some power out if what I have, probably.

I keep reading LSJ for instant torque blah blah blah.

I have LNF and it's got plenty of torque at just about any RPM and any amount of throttle.

If you want a simple car to bum around town for with maybe some slight mods, get an lnf. At the end of the day things will be cheaper for you since they take bolt-on extremely well.

Either car really is a fantastic choice, the big thing you want to look for is whether or not it's g85.
