SS/TC intercooler piping?

well my intercooler piping broke at the bracket which mounts the piping to the top of the motor and im just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing happen...i went to the dealership and they told me my warrenty doesnt cover it cuz its not a GM flaw...BS plastic isnt durable at all. So im really interested in finding out if this has happened to anyone else

LOL typical dealer answer.

No group buy, sorry, best price is online. We are a bit cheaper than going direct.

I've seen or heard of at least 3 piping that cracked or exploded and at least one intercooler that cracked on the side where the plastic is. I upgraded ASAP!

We manufacture our own charge piping kit, which IS the highest quality availabe. We will have all dyno and flow bench testing complete by end of day tomorrow and we do have a Group Purchase going, here's the direct link.
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/supporting-vendor-deals-group-purchases-133/clear-image-automotive-ss-tc-boost-tubing-kit-gp-146629/
Shortest tubing kit available
ONLY tubing kit available with NO welds at all.
All Mandrel bent
Least amount of flex couplers = better flow
Lowest price available

Also, I would ask to speak to the manager and throw a fit about the charge piping NOT being covered under warranty. If you were the only one this has happened t, maybe, but it's a known problem. One I think they will eventually have to issue a recall for... They may not have made the tubing themselves, but it comes installed on their car... Don't let it go. A little leverage is this: tell them when, not if, it happens for the 3rd time, you will be implementing the "lemon law", so they can fix it now, or have the whole car back later. tell the manager you want to speak to a "Factory representative". You'll be amazed at how their demeanor changes...

Good luck.

That is absolute crap, if the car is stock there is no reason why parts should break. Go to a different dealership.

after seeing that clip of the dyno run im scared especially considering the fact that i have the stage kit installed. im ordering my new pipes ASAP. i DO DRIVE the HHR SS but its the same stuff. I had no idea it flexes that much. Im going to be getting the Dejon piping with the HKS BOV as well as their intercooler.

That amount of dynamic movement really isn't a big deal provided the mounts were designed to flex with the movement. It seems like in a small percentage of cases they are breaking though, so there was something in testing whether it be production variation or something that wasn't accounted for.

May I ask how you have a stage kit installed? Like can you provide some info on prices, where you got it installed etc?

He has a HHR SS, the GM stage kit is already available for the HHR and Solstice turbos. Cobalt SS/TC have to wait a couple more months.

Oh ok, I didn't know he had the HHR.

As for the piping. I think its alot of money for no extra power. Sure you stock one might break but go to the dealer to get it fixed. Spend that $350+ on something else. I am waiting until the stage kit is released until I even consider an intake incase it comes with one.

The pipes will help you. Less restriction on the aftermarket means better airflow= faster spool up time on the turbo. An investment worth every penny. IMO

Yeah maybe if it was $100 but for $350+, a 0.0001 second faster spool up doesn't mean anything to me.
