A metal piece from his Hahn intake came loose and hit the turbine and chewed it up real bad.

A piece that was not supposed to be in there in the first place. Apparently when they cut the hole for the breather fitting they did not make sure the metal piece they cut was removed. It came loose and got sucked in the turbine's blades and chewed them up badly.

get the turbo ported and clipped. I've been wanting to see what a ss/tc would do with a ported and clipped turbo. Should move your powerband up a tad, but your top end would get pretty nasy. 400ft/lbs possibly?

Maybe, I am flowing nearly 38 lbs/min from my stock turbo. Made 338 whp SAE. at 6700 rpms.

yea, I saw your post in the dyno thread. Could be real interesting. I just know that DSM guys have used stock 14b turbo's that they ported and clipped and have gone mid 11's. Granted that's AWD, but their trap speed is like 116. No reason you guys can't trap higher. Might be able to eek out 40lb/min.

BTF's big wheel K04+ flows 40+lbs./min, but compressor surge issues are really hampering those setups.

go external wastegate. that would solve that problem.

I wonder If they make a external wastegate that fits the K04?

you can mount an external wastegate on your exhaust manifold. Just take it off and take it to a machinest to have the flange welded in place, then bolt down your wastegate. Shouldn't be too hard. At least that way you could keep the stock appearing turbo and get up to 40+lbs/min in flow. Would be a killer stock turbo setup. WAY better power band than some of these gt30 setups I've been seeing.

Plus it would keep you in a lower class depending on what kind of racing you do.

I really like the KO4 in that it makes full boost at only 2400 rpms with my mods, was 2700rpms stock, but it still breathes pretty well up top as well. I think once I get a bigger intercooler I might try pulling it to 7200 rpms to see if it can still breathe up there.

Yea, If I had a SS/TC, I'd probably go for the K04 just to say that I was still on the stock turbo. Way more impressive. I'd bet you could get pretty close to 120mph traps as well. No reason you couldn't go 11's on slicks with a good suspension setup.
