superchips lnf

Hey has anyone used the Superchips Flashpaq for 08-09 cobalt ss? wondering if its good to get for a stock car? or should i just stick with getting the gm stage 1 with hp tuners? they say the superchips will get +40 hp and +53.2 tq. (my cobalt is my daily driver and all said and done looking to be about that 360 hp range) which ever one is better im going to be putting on, k&n sri, charge piping, and turbo back exhaust.

Dont waste your money,i know a guy who had it and it really was crap. For example,it kept saying that his rev limiter has changed according to the superchips unit, when really it didn't change. That's just one example...do it right and get a proper tune like a HP OR Trifecta tune !

How much is that cheap **** ? You really gonna sacrifice a few bucks to blow your car up ?

i wasnt planning on getting it i just wanted to know if anyone has tried it. i was set on gm stage 1 then getting it tuned by either HP or Trifecta. the superchips was like $350 but it looks like i stick with what i wanted, my friend was just trying to save me money but i would rather do it right the first time.

I ran the super chips for a year and its not crap.. Its the same as gm stage 1 but you can monitor and log with it and you can get them used for a 1/3 of the price. If you want a ton of power go with a custom tune though.

I'll just end up with the GM stage 1 I think that will be the easiest and most reliable

I ran the superchips tune back before GM STG 1 was released .... wanted something to use for the summer and GM kept delaying the stage kit.

IMHO superchips is not crap .... it's super easy to swap the tune in and out ....make the same power if not more than GMS1 at half the price ....a 1/4 of the price if you can find one used . I went 13.4@ 107 on that tune ...with only 3 passes on the car so I know it had more in it .

For what it is , the superchips tune is a decent tune . It's safe , cheap , and easy to install.

The superchips tune is crap. read my reviews of different tunes here.

the superchips tune runs stupid rich, you don't booth that high, and does nothing with your timing.

Just curious...
If you have an HPT tune could you flash superchips on and save HPT to reinstall with this programmer? I know you can flash back to stock with it. I also know you cannot transfer this to another car unless you flash back to stock first..but what if that car has HPT already?

How does it compare to GM1? Guys are selling these CHEAP and you could save a lot using this instead without running into the install *issues* that people have with GM1.

I had a Superchips programmer for the '02 WS6 and I saved the file to HPT just fine, flashed the car back to stock to unlock the SC programmer, built the HPT tune on it from there.

They had modded some tranny settings (slushbox), more timing and leaner PE ratios from stock, that was about it as I recall.

I suppose the LNF SC tuner is about the same deal plus increasing the DAL tables.

If the car has a hp tune file installed ....as soon as you try to save the existing modified hpt calibration .....the superchips handheld will come back with an error . Superchips goes off of what GM says the car should have for a calibration .....anything other than that and it's not going to save or write over the exisiting file.

I never thought about doing what your suggesting...... it would be cool as hell to be able to carry around a couple different custom tune files on the cortex. You could have your auto-cross and daily driving tune both sitting in your glovebox ready to flash without carrying a laptop and interface around. I sure Vince could figure out a way to make it happen 8)

i wouldn't even get the gms1 if you are looking for 360whp you won't get it with that the 350 you are going to send can go towards a new tune made just for your car both nick (byt) and vince have said that the stock sensors are good for running over 20psi of boost, but if you do get them make sure that all the connections are soldered correctly so you don't run into problems later on down the road

you know im really glad i read all the posts cause i dont know why people put down superchips so much and i was glad to see some people say otherwise. now for this guy that wants 360hp and is putting those mods on yes id definitely go with hp or trifecta but if youre stock or just have a couple mods and youre not looking for anything serious i think superchips is really not a bad way to go. i have a hahn intake and a mpx downpipe and mpx exhaust..i was going to get trifecta but i was tired of dealing with the guy i wanted to go through cause it was hard to get it set up and the superchips was so easy so i just went superchips..im quite pleased with it. reading and deleting codes is nice and i am boosting to 22 and settling at 20. which for a dd that im not looking to do anything too awfully serious with im very much satisfied.

TF is just as easy to setup as SC tune. If you are having to delete codes.... there is something wrong with your tune. My 2871 Car is temi tuned and doesn't even throw codes.

I think you're wrongly assuming his tune resulted in codes...all he said was that you can read and delete em with this...can't do that with a GM1 kit.

Well said..and that's from someone with HPT tune. If I were a newby....bone stock..I would get this vs GM1, since they're selling for $150 or so now. GM1 still has install issues and costs $600 when all is said and done. The ONLY consideration would be warranty...but it looks like you can easily flash back to stock with this. Just my take.

You can do it with a 20.00 scan tool from autozone. The SC Tune is a crap tune.... its been verified. And the GMS1 makes more power and carries a warranty. I still stand by HPT or trifecta. Also its a canned tuned.... Canned tunes are ****. (GMS1 atleast carries a warranty with its crap tune)

actually you could just invest in an aeroforce gauge or buy the tactrix cable if you are going to go with trifecta i love my aeroforce though clears codes and i can see my AFR/boost at the same time
