Just saw t2's post about getting water into the maf with the Hahn, really worried me, especially being my dd, so after doing a shit load more research and looking for a week now, im ordering the k&n SRI :) found a very good deal as well.

I made a plastic lid out of an unused cat litter box lol. Cost $5 and worked perfect.

AARON-SS-TC 03-24-2013 09:43 PM

bwahaha..now thats custom..lol

turbaltss08 03-26-2013 11:45 PM

Not necessarily. More of a sound preference.

Just got mine installed. Anyone else have problems when letting of the throttle hearing like a whipple noise? Figured loose fitting somewhere, checked EVERY gasket, screw on the k&n and still hearing. Holds boost when on throttle but when I let off its making this noise. Any ideas?

It's bpv flutter. I'm almost willing to bet you did a vacuum tank bypass?

Ya when I was running a bov. But since I put stock charge pipes back on its hooked up just like when stock.

It could be the one way check valve in the vac tank is going bad. It should not flutter and a tune will not normally help that issue at all. However your MAF needs to be rescaled for the K&N.

Sox-Fan 06-18-2013 12:26 PM

Are you running a Forge BPV? When it needs servicing it'll do that.

No I just put the stock bpv back in when removing the bov. And servicing? Something I can do? The dealers in my area don't know anything about these cars. When I first took my car in after I bought it, they were accusing me of putting aftermarket brakes (brembos) on which voided my warranty. Lol.

I hear this threads author is a good tuner LOL. :)

Check vac lines for leaks then if none found try bypassing the vac tank. If it gets better it means the check valve is going bad in the vac tank.

Will do. Thanks for the input!

QCbalt09 06-19-2013 11:52 PM

Well checked all fittings, hoses, and cover on bpv. No luck so tomarrow ill bypass the vac tank. Write up for this?

I know I am probably beating a dead horse, but why not lol?

Right now I have the Hahn CAI. It works great, but after reading this thread it has me thinking.

I am torn between Keeping my Hahn or going with the treadstone CAI.

I am fully bolted and have the GMS1 ( I am waiting till my warranty runs out to get a tune and a ZFR )

Basically will the Treadstone Honeycomb CAI give me more accurate / consistent MAF readings and therefor make drivability better? Or, am I just over thinking this and stick with my Hahn CAI?

Does anyone actually have experience with the two? I am looking for improved MAF readings ( drivability ) over my Hahn.

Awesome thread! Thanks for the info

I didn't really all 16 pages I'm sorry, but does any one have number on the K&N SRI typhoon intake?

Go to zzp's site and buy it

NY Cobalt/tc 03-18-2014 06:27 PM

I'm very indecisive. But I'm just looking for thoughts, issues, and power gains(tuned and untuned)

bmartz1991 03-18-2014 09:24 PM

K&N SRI is the way to go. I don't think ZZP sells it though. Go to Modern Performance or eBay for it.

northvibe 03-19-2014 10:47 AM

Did powell ever get his intake going?

Amazon

I have GMS1 installed and installed the Hahn CAI and I had issues with going into limp mode. I also got the code P0101 MAF sensor. How long have you been running with the Hahn CAI and GMS1 tune? Do you have any suggestions. I'm not sure why I was having these problems. I looked over the install 100 times before I just decided to put the stock intake back on and after that no problems.

I want to have the intake installed and get the selectable Trifecta tune, but I have to get this figured out before I get Trifecta tuned.

The hahn is known to have this issue. You will need a tune to correct the issue. Maybe contact Trifecta first to see if they can tune out the issues. I'm sure he can.

I always forget about Amazon.

Ebay is cheaper. Make sure you go with reputable seller (like Jeggs official in the link below) and pay with paypal (for refund purposes) and you'll be fine.

My Hahn CAI went to shit so I ordered the K&N. Got it installed earlier today but now the car is running very rough and actually died twice. My MAF is dirty due to it falling into some mud but I cleaned it up best I could. Might just go buy a new MAF and see how that works.

What position do you have your filter at? That could be part of the reason too.

What do you mean by position?

Wert842 03-26-2014 08:09 PM

Moving the silver line in the filter to a position of a clock.

bmartz1991 03-26-2014 08:49 PM

^ This, I have the metal pleat on mine positioned at around 11 / 12 o'clock.

Wert842 03-26-2014 08:53 PM

I do believe mine is put at the one o clock place as well.
