Timing chain tensioner....again
Timing chain tensioner....again
Question guys has anyone had my issue after doing my cams on the lnf went to put the tensioner back in and it stayed compressed tried everything so pulled it out hit it with the rubber mallet amongst a billion other things won't pop back out??? I'm ordering a new one but the thing is my current is the new style if anyone has ideas throw em my way I would love to play with this damn thing to figure out what's happening or of it was on the way out would my wotbox cause any damage?
Tried it with the old one after following the how to with the whole jarring it I hit it with a long extension with a rubber piece on the end and smacked it pretty good with my rubber mallet then I tried the crank with no fuel or spark motor is apart front cover and valve covers are off so I can see what's going on using caution here but I will do that when the new one comes in thanks
I wanna get this solved already haha driving the goat isn't fun in the rain but Im happy I still have boost! Lol I'd die without it! Anyways back on topic no smacking of the new one when I get it ill make note of that thanks
No you do smack them. You're just asking to bend a valve lol. I have put new timing sets in ecotecs about 10 times now. I usually take a blunt tipped long screwdriver, wrap it in a soft rag, then place it against the chain at the general area of where the tensioner is located on the guide and give it a liberal tap. Not too hard but not too soft either. Like smacking that ass for the first time.
