What they said. There is no way in hell your tuned ss/tc will even come close to hanging with an srt-10 viper

I plan on trading it in with the warranty in tact.
the warranty blows anyway. who buys a car that can't afford to make it a toy. and if something does break under warranty you still gotta pay for it. lmao. i say **** GM and there retarded warranty's. not to mention you gotta deal with jackass tightwads that don't want to fix your **** all the time too

:sigh: vipers blow anyways. waist of money. lots of ppl prefer a 70 thousand dollar vet over a 100k viper. they just look cool. unless it's a hennessy edition. (delicious edition) lmao...

if the cobalt was rear wheel and had over 500 whp maybe it could hang then. lmao! j/k
but yea, i've driven some extremly fast cars and i hope this one will put me in the seat a little when i get done with it. not to mention i need a car for college and it gets decent gas mileage lmao. and this one is cute. and i'd like to beat ppl in 60 thousand dollar cars with my little cobalt lmao! i can see the look on their faces now.

Well, he's not saying he's faster, he's saying he might keep up...

Let me put it this way : your TC is fast I'm sure. If you drive the viper, you might not "feel" a dramatic difference because you're used to driving a fairly quick, light car.

But put them side by side and you'll see what the guys mean.

Those srt10 are beasts.

BTW to OP : how do the stock 225's handle this kind of power ?

What part my dad owns the car and I have driven it quite a few times confuses you. I said that the Viper is faster but not by as much as you might think. BTW. my car traps close to 110. If you have ever driven a viper you will know that they are very easy to either bog down because they are geared extremely high or if you get a little too happy with your right foot the rears really go up in smoke. From a roll my car will hang with it for longer than you might think. Unless you own both cars I do not think you bench racing them makes you know more about them than me. The rwhp to weight ratio of my car is only around 1.4 lbs/hp less than the Viper, that coupled with the fact that my car in 2nd gear is the same overall ratio as the Viper in 1st makes a roll race with one alot closer than you think trust me.

I am not the original poster but I will tell you that I get absolutely no traction in 1st. Sometimes it hooks in 2nd but not not usually. Third is the only gear that it almost never spins in, except if it is cold outside.

Wrong. Try again, and I dont not make statements based on pure conjecture. I have driven both cars and yet you still dont believe that I can hang with my dad's car. After 100 mph the Viper does pull on me, but from 40-100 it is closer than you think.

Dude you do know that a bone stock Viper runs around 12.2 (11.8 if you are a really good driver) at around 120mph that is not that fast. I used to have a GTO that ran 12.7 and I raced a stock 2000 mustang GT one time from a dig. The GT is a 14.0 sec car at best and yet from a dig to 110 mph I pulled maybe 3-4 cars on him. It is alot harder to pull on someone than you think unless you are talking a prius vs a Viper or Z06.

I see you run 12.75 in your car so you are pretty fast too you are acting like a viper runs 9s or something I am not talking about a TT 1000 hp one.

That's why I'm not getting a tune anytime soon...

I dunno man, you only get good traction from a roll at like 60mph, then you get moving but you're already at warp speed after a couple of seconds.

I love a good 0-60 at WOT & pushing it it under 70mph so having no traction at WOT & having to step off the gas doesn't do it for me.

So if you want to enjoy the full potential of the tune (ie: without spinning your tires up to 3rd), what are the options then in terms of getting traction on the street (w/o drag radials) with the TC ?

Yeah I know that.
I'd just rather have less HP and have a car that still has traction that allows me to drive it hard without changing tires every other week.
I'd love to try one of those on a track though.

If you get a better set of tires. Dunlop Z1 star specs for example are a softer compound tire and will hook up better. Go wider as well it has been proven that a 245/40/18 will fit on a stock height TC no rubbing. I would rather my tires spin than my clutch slip though. Also note that I have the factory torque management removed from my car. Not all tuners do this. If you keep you factory torque mangement settings the car will apply only 50% avaliable torque in 1st and 66% in 2nd gear. that will help with wheel spin but will actually cost you around 15 whp as in order to manage the torque the ECM closes the throttle blade some. My car went from 250 whp stock to 265 whp by just removing the torque management. I did not believe it until I looked a the HP tuners logs and noticed the car was seeing 89% throttle stock but 100% after removing the torque management.

Yeah i had vince put a boost limit on first gear to 7-10 psi so i get traction haha works very well, but i will be getting 245/40/18 that should help with second.

I have it set for full boost in 1st but there is not enough load and spoolup time for it to boost more than 15lbs or so. i get 21 psi in second though at only 2800 RPM too.

man I had Paul tune my car with FULL bolt onas last night, all you gotta do is drive it RIGHT and you wil have max power allowed with traction either gas lay off gas then gas again! or go till the tires are trying to break loose and keep the pedal accordinly to the traction all the way through 1st and 2nd! its pulls even better if you drive it right!

This is true.. i wish i could say that the TC could hang with my dads cars or have a chance at all. or even feel close the similar.. after all the mods and tune and blah blah... but my dads "nice" car does 0-60 in 2.2 seconds. so that'll never happen LMAO! he'll leave me every time. whats scary is when your doing 80 on the interstate and he floors it.. the front tires come up off the ground

What kind of car is it? I am guessing it is at least 800 hp if it does 0-60 in 2.2 sec.

i'mma try to find the track slips on it. i think he lost all that stuff on it after the hurricane..

actually i think he kept them in the glove box in a folder..

to bad he doesn't keep his car at home. (parents are divorced, don't live with him)
i think he still keeps it in car place in FL

Well while I was at work today I guess they tried delivering my tuner, but me or the Wife wasnt home. And since it's a Holiday Monday I cant pick it up until Tuesday, so I really paid $55 extra for nothing, LOL.
