Trifecta Tune....I knew this was coming :(
People with this custom tune or GTFO attitude **** me off. ok, go get a custom tune and throw away your warrenty, thats fine. idc. i envy that cause i cannot afford to throw money away like that. but dont act like your extra 20 horse is REAL POWER now. If you want REAL POWER dont buy a cobalt. Cobalt is a auto-x car not a drag car. jeezus christ.
what...the...fu*k.

GM is not going to warranty your stage tune car either if you smoke your clutch or blow your tranny. So either way you are pretty much screwed if something like this happens that is why I said months a ago that I was not going to bother waiting on GM for this kit. Stage tune HHR are making only 257-260 whp so it is like a 17-20 whp gain not worth $600 plus installation IMHO.
With a third-party tune, parts, etc. it's far too easy for them to claim "this isn't our part, this is the cause of the problem" and there's little you can do to argue it. They're correct on every portion except for perhaps it being root cause, but again how can you argue with them if a low percentage of car's have that part/tune/etc installed.
Not arguing, just trying to provide perhaps a different point of view on it. When it comes to a third-party tune running the engine well outside its original parameters, they can blame the world on that since it affects nearly every component of the drivetrain...when it's something GM did then perhaps they should have tested a little more diligently if something does go catastrophically wrong.
I think you must have been really hard on the car for it to be slipping already. Did you learn on the car? Looks like trifecta had nothing to do with clutch looks like its the driver to me.
what...the...fu*k.

It is torque not hp that causes the clutch to slip. It can hold at least 330 wrtq or more without slipping as long as you dont abuse your clutch you should be fine.

OK guys my tc is pretty stock......Intake/exhau/spring upgrade/tune....Car is kinda quick, ran a 13.6 at 114mph. Lets put it this way tho every where i go is a 1/4 mile to me i beat the snot out of my car everywhere i go so i know this was coming. I currently have 12,500miles and around 5k the clutch slips bad tires loose traction till about that point...I know i need a clutch bad...only a few select brands out there but its alot of dough for a clutch and flywheel any recomendations from people that have already upgraded what brand to go with...iv been eyeing up the Spec stg3 w/fidanza flywheel. just want some recomendations b4 i lay out a grand

The stock Continentals get really easy to spin in second gear under boost when they hit the 10-15k mark......
Spec and exedy clutches are mostly good for japanese cars and such... High powered American cars and even racing model Cobalts use Clutchmasters.. Because that's all they do.. Spec\exedy knows Jap cars, CM knows American cars.... I have too much experience having driven and raced over 17 different cars Japanese, German and American... in twenty years... FYI: (Electcblu has no clue what he says most of the time.)..... Clutch masters is on way to many high pwred American cars...
Just a warning to you all: Sitting at a red light with the clutch pedal to the floor (engaged) and the car in gear will shorten clutch life by 50%..... Always take the car out of gear and foot off the clutch pedal at a red light.....
NOTE: If it's found that a driver does not know how to use the clutch properly like I just described, they ( GM) will not cover it...... They can't afford to cover things like this anymore for the time being .......

You might want to put the right MPH trap speed in there too... 104 mph not 114mph... You must have alot more mods then listed and well over 325 whp to run that kind of trap speed!!!!! If your clutch is slipping, your tires will not spin any more... your tach will spin rapidly but you'll not get any speedo increase with a bad clutch- and no tire spin... If your speedo rises with the tach and there's tire spin, your fine... just too much tq for the tires to handle... You'll be laying out about 1500-2000 for a clutch, not including labor.. and do a different flywheel or machine your stock one...... Ya a light flywheel will free up about 10-14 whp but it's not really worth it...

Your dreaming to much... The SS\TC coupe is 3000lbs and with our gearing it'll take 340 whp to run 115+ mph and with that speed it should run low 12's with slicks on ....
The clutch is a wear and tear item like belts and hoses, brakes... these things are not covered under warranty on American cars..... now, if your clutch is going bad under say 12-14 k mi when it should really last about 28-40 k mi, yes they might replace it under warranty....

but i'm going to point only one out
60- 2.0061
1/8- 7.9329 @ 94.33
1/4- 12.1190 @ 117.47
on street tires... yea you'll be low 12s at 115 plus but it wont take slicks.. not to mention all you would need to trap 114 would be some tire spin.. 1. Revhigh18, 12.806@113.83, LNF OH NOES lol
and if you think clutches cost that much hell even the exedy hyper single which is probably the most expensive clutch for the ss/sc only costs 1k .... you'd pay 1500-2000 after install labor ... LAWLZ you're obviously full of **** about how many cars you've been around .. again..
and GFTO .. i really have NO idea how you havent been banned yet
not to mention.. you're probably the first person on here thats said i dont know wtf i'm talking about ..
You know what is funny...all these people putting down the GM kit coming out saying they can get a much better tune for $300 that has better performance...but then they realize their clutch is slipping and they have to replace it...
Makes the GM kit look better everyday...

They say the clutch is covered but what they mean is that it is covered from mechanical defect. So when you take it to them they'll give you the benefit of the doubt and take it apart only to see the klutch glazed over and abused no matter what the situation is. Then they say yep your not covered because its obviously been dropped and abused. Then you have you car sitting on there rack with the clutch out and having to pay them a G for a new one unless you want to take it off there rack and get it towed somewhere else. They love it when people come in with fried clutches..... They act and say yep its covered and then tell you its not so that they get the business from you. Its easy money for them you see?
And yes I know that from experience its what they did to me.
Oh yes and its wonderful paying an extra G for a rental car because the clutch is backordered for three weeks.........
