Trifecta Tuning?

How reliable is this tuning? And what are the issues with stock warranties and this tune? Thanks!

If you are worried about warranty get a spare ECM.

dont know how the tune is but the warranty is 99% Voided with a tune. I see that your in PA though, if you want a great reliable tune with dyno verification you could go to Tune Time Performance in Toms River NJ. They do a phenominal job with cobalts as well as TBSS's. I wouldnt get my car non dyno tuned anywhere else. website is www.tunetimeperformance.com I put down 281hp and 280ftlbs completly stock with a mild tune only changing a few tables. Stock 1st run was 251hp and 255ftlbs, calibrated mustang dyno

So far, everything i have heard about trifecta has been positive. As for warranty, It depends on the dealership but most will void it out. The search button is your friend!

Just get it. I was worried about my warranty at first. But one of my buddies who has a stage 4 cobalt has no problem at the dealer. Keep in mind the stage 4 is supposed to void your warranty

Either way if worse comes to worse if GM goes down the ******* (which i hope it doesnt) our warranties will be gone anyway

im going with the HP Tuner. I used it last time and i liked it. And the up side to that is the person i get my mods done by is like 5mins from my house so if i need my stock settings on all i have to do is have him put the stock settings back on before i would have to goto the dealer. And as for the warranty they have to prove that the tune is what caused the car to have failure. But we all know how dealers work lol.

im pretty sure the pcm holds the last 15 times that it was programmed...so the dealer would know even if you placed the stock maps back on it.

If a dealer looks and finds a non-factory tune, your screwed. Other side is, why, unless something major goes wrong, would they look...

you need to listen to people who actually have a trifect tune...cause if you dont have it you dont know anything on how it works. Trifecta tuning is exactly like tuning with a dyno, except without the dyno. meaning you dont have something showing your hp numbers. however, it is just as acurate, just as safe, and even better much cheaper. What he does is is sends you a handheld palm pilot (gt tuner) with a base tune for your mods. you then upload it into your computer, and do datalogs. datalogging your car with the gt tuner is EXACTLY as running your car on the dyno, except it doesnt actually show your AFR. HOWEVER Vince can use stats to calculate your AFR almost exact. so after your datalogging, you email him the files, he then reviews them on his computer, he does tweaking if neccesary, and then emails you back, upload to the gt tuner, then you plug her up and load your tune. do some driving and datalogging, and repeat the process as neccessary. I have been tuned multiple times (gm stage2, about 3 pcm's from ZZP which all sucked, and custom dyno tuned with a 4 hour drive from home) and NONE have made my car run near as smooth, as powerful, and as efficient as it has. I highly reccomend the trifecta tune through Vince. It is very reasonable priced, and if you have any questions or concerns just email or call Vince directly. he has awesome communication and customer service.

hey i forgot to ask Billjab, what are your mods your tuning for?

You made 251 whp and 255 wtrq on a mustang dyno? That should be appox. 275 whp and 280 wrtq stock on a dynojet. You sure they "calibrated" that dyno properly. 30 whp and 25 wrtq that is a tiny gain.I gained 54 whp and 83 wtrq and went from 253 whp and 247 wrtq to 307 whp and 330 wtrq with just a tune and I am running only 20.5 psi not 22.5 psi How much did you pay for that tune and what pressure are you running? I hope you wanted a really conservative tune because that is what you got.

Yea i only had on about 1500 miles at the time and did not want a big tune at all, im running 17psi with no spiking lol, i did not want to go to crazy and he respected that with a very very conservative tune. I should be going back sometime in April to get it up to 21psi and have some mods by then. I now have 6500mi and i feel more comfortable about the reliability in the LNF

heck no, thats called a canned tune. aka swap your pcm tune or if you have hptuners. I would not recommend that at all for not only do you not get your original VIN # tuned, but it screws up alot of things like security features and case relearns. Hopefully Vince sees this thread and post the issues we had fixing my zzp pcm, it was hectic. took alot of phone calls, alot of emails, and about 10 hours to tune my car....

oh and i just noticed when you said you were all stock that you drive a ss/tc. I know the tune he offers for the LNF guys is sick. dont quote me, but i believe around 300whp is pretty easily made. What i would do if i was use, if you are looking to getting a few bolt ons, like exhaust work, CAI, etc. (duno whats all out there for the ss/tc) then i would do that first, then get tuned by Vince cause he can get you the most out of your mods. Now if your worried about warranty, GM can only not cover something on your car if they can prove the item you changed or swapped caused the issue to your car. Now with that being said, they can throw a hissy fit and argue with you like crazy and maybe a lawsuit, but just try to be cool with your dealer and youll have no issues. I havent had any issues with my car being warrantied for the things it has been and my car is pretty obvious to not be "factory"....

Good Luck : )

Ok that explains it then. Stock boost is about 16 so that is about right. I just wanted to make sure you were not a 20 psi or higher with those numbers. Your stock numbers are pretty high BTW. Most mustang dyno numbers for a stock TC are in the 230-240 whp range. Every car and dyno is different I guess.

FWIW, I'm holding off on a tune (just got my car tho). As bad as I want it, I just can't risk losing my warranty in this economy and with GM in the state its in too. I'll also just do a CAI, hard pipes and other mods that wont void the overall warranty. I'm going to at least wait the 12mo/12k "no hassle" warranty to expire.
