If you cherish your warranty, either do not get a tune, or get a second ECU and tune that while leaving your stock one stock. Even if you flash back to stock, if they want to find it, they will.

Well then they aren't doing their jobs or doing it well at least...I had my Superchips tune at the time when I went in for a blown fuel pressure solenoid wire thing (Check Engine Light Code P0091) and they didn't mention a thing...just fixed it and had it back to me promptly.

There is probly a monetary threshold that must be met before making calibration inquiries as well as what kind of part failure. A solenoid doesnt exactly scream abuse, however a hard part such as valvetrain or tranny/differential failure would hav them digging around in the ecu.

this is true... it's $350 for the LNF unless you want to have them pre-tune one for you, and send them your stocker, then there's a refundable $150 core charge. so an extra will be $350 as far as i know. I should be stopping down there tomorrow at somepoint... if anyone wants i can ask & confirm with Matt or one of the guys

It's always a risk. They can scrap your warranty if they really want to because of a tune. Only way to be sure is get a 2nd computer.

no the new trifecta tune is not.... it is a hidden file on the ecu that now tricks the ecu into thinking that it is stock so when a gm tech hooks it up to their computer it puts out a stock reading which indeed it is not.

gm tech sees factory info in ecu = keep warranty!

is not like they don't have the tecnology to do it, all they got to do is get someone to order the tune and then they'll take the ecu and go thru it, but then again I don't think they'll bother unless cars start breaking all over the place

I'm actually thinking about dropping the extended warranty and get the trifecta, my neighbor got it and I drove it the other day(muffler del and tune), the car picks up quicker and there's no lag that I could feel at all doing a second gear pull from about 2.5k rpms, the car felt solid, I might get a cai and a couple bolt-on mods first thou I don't want to be retuning everytime I add something

not telling my self that........i spoke with vince and he said it is not guranteed to allow you to keep your warrenty but with the new specs for the tech to keep a look out for aftermarket tunes.....it will just allow them to pull up your vehicles diag and it "look" the same as factory. sooo basically its like smoke and mirrors to the gm tech if they pull the diag and everything looks factory they may just move on and should have no reason to dig..... trifecta is an aftermarket tune so yes if they find it your screwed. but if not your warrenty is still good because your car tells them that it is stock!

i am still debating on the trifecta or hp tuners i am soooo torn. i like the idea of the hiden tune but from what ive see i like hptuners numbers better damn thhe choices
