Turbo Swap Help

Hello, after doing what I could to figure out what problem the K04 had I could not find a solution. The car spool seems to be stuck as it makes an odd "zzz" sound when driving it. I have given in and already bought another K04. Does anyone who has replaced/installed a new turbo in this car knows how easy/difficult it is to replace it? or should I just take it to a mechanic to get the turbo replaced? and any important things I should know if I do decide to swap it myself? Thanks!

I would check agin for boost leaks. Check around the intercooler and check the end tanks if you are using a stock intercooler.

As far as swapping the turbo, It's not terribly difficult. I did mine in about 8 hours total, working slowly, taking breaks, and BSing with other people in the shop. I had a lift so I could work from the top and the bottom as need easily. My only real problemwas a stripped and seized stud from the o2 housing to the downpipe. I ended up removing the o2 housing and downpipe together. I cut the nut off the stud to get them apart, but the sud was still seized. I installed the K04r pretty quick and easy, and then intalled the 02 housing with the seized stud and then downpipe, so i could get my car off the lift, out of the shop and jhome for the night. I went back in the morning and pulled the DP and o2 housing and used CNC Freeze off to get the seized stud out. Before i started I bought the ZZP ko4 replacent oil and coolant lines just incase i broke anything. The coolant and oil lines come with the banjo bolt gaskets. Over all it was pretty easy for someone who had never done any turbo work before. I would say if I did it again it would take maybe 4 hours.

Okay thanks for the information, you gave me the confidence to do it myself. I think I will be performing the swap myself then so hopefully everything goes good, thanks.
