Turbo Timer?

I know there are probably plenty of threads about this, but I am just wondering if people would mind suggesting a good one to buy for my 2009 Cobalt SS/TC.

You don't need one, they are a waste of money. Just do like I do: carry a gallon of water so when you park and your turbo is all hot, you just pop your hood and throw that water all over the engine, making sure to hit the turbo. Saves you from wasting all that gas leaving the car running, and the water bottle is even reuseable!

You CANT be ****** serious!?! Every single word of that is retarded!

Our cars ARE designed to some degree to not NEED a turbo timer....but they are a very inexpensive thing to do to help prolong the life of the turbo, OR help to cool after spirited driving in the short term. Many upgrades as I have IMO justify getting one as it could not hurt.

Carrying gallons of water everywhere just so you can dump it all over your engine to avoid wasting $.10 cents in gas..........TOOL

Greddy FTW

I would say save the money, it is not needed. Our turbo works by siphoning when the car is turned off. The hot coolant/oil rises and with that it pulls the cooler liquid/oil through the turbo. This keeps the oil from setting there and boiling in one place and breaking down so much it hardens.

I really hope this is a joke! If you do that your turbo is on its way to being fucked.

That makes no since, we have no clue how dumb you really are. When a member is asking for help or advice being a smart ass is not very supportive. Some people may believe that you do that and it is OK so they try it. We need to step in and make sure people understand the right and wrong way to do things. Plus you are from OK so how are we suppose to know you wouldn't do that jk.

sponge14, I wish I would have known that car was at lynn smith, cause my dad works there. That is a killer deal you got. I am looking for a cobalt project car(perferibly an ss/tc) and that car would have been it. I may just look for a wrecked and rebuilt ss/tc coupe to save on some cash now. Just messing with you on the OK thing, I guess it bad enough you have to live there.

Lol no probs, no sand in my vee-gine!

Btw, what does your dad do there? Hope he's not a salesman, they kinda screwed me on my financing! If I didn't get such a sweet deal on the car, I may just have been pissed.

I would assume yes but it really depends on what dealer you go to. It also depends on what warranty you are talking about, total powertrain no, but ignition probably.

For the most part, after 'spirited driving" the drive to where you park should mellow things/temp down enough that the oil and coolant will suffice.
A timer may not interact with the ecu and may void your warranty, I`d check with the dealer you may have to visit and find out what he`s gonna say.

I actually bought mine from the used lot. It was technically used since it was bought at auction, that's how I got the insane-o deal.
