Upgrading engine internals

Hey everyone, I'm looking to start upgrading the internals to get ready for the turbo upgrade for my SS sedan, does anyone have any recommendations for brands to get that have the best performance that's not so rough of the wallet. Thanks in advanced.

basically when it comes to building your motor your gonna have to pay to play. do it right the first time. go onto zzps website and youll find your best parts there they also have their own valve springs and such on the cheaper side so you can look into that.

I've wanted to go through Zzp and use their upgraded turbo system, but I've already upgraded my intercooler and piping, looking to get between 400-450 whp if possible. I know they're worth it, but just so costly lol

u can get that with the zfr and some meth and a good tune just order the bigger zfr and it be no problem. no need for internals for that, may wanna think about a tranny upgrade though.

How much would that be pushing if I did that with the zzp internals? What type of tranny would handle it?

If you fully built your motor you could Def do 400-450 safely and max that turbo out too on e so then your over 500 but you wI'll Def need a tranny for sure. Go with the 4.45 tranny if you can find a set of gears for Powell to rebuild for you or you'll have to do the 6spd conversion or the 4.05 gears

if you want to spend the coin on a tranny do the 6spd conversion and you wont have to worry about anything lol but to save some money try and find a 4.45 tranny or a 4.05 trans the 4.45 are all but extinct now so good luck finding one hit up powell or mongo on here they might be able to help you out

As for internals I chose Wiseco pistons and ZZP rods. They have been working fine for me (numbers in my sig) but if I had to do it again I'd get the more expensive Pauter rods, just for added safety.
As for the tranny, it's true that the stock LNF tranny is more vulnerable than the engine internals. I found that out the hard way. Contact Powell for a cryo-treated 4.45 I know for a fact that he has access to several more cores and 4.45 gears right now. Everyone drools over the 6-speed F40 and yes, it's said to be stronger than a 4.45 but cryo treating the latter makes it a lot stronger. Also bear in mind that more gears = more shifting = slower acceleration times. Especially since my car is purpose built for road track, that automatically disqualified the F40. Make sure you don't upgrade your clutch until you've done the tranny. Don't make the tranny the weakest link in the chain. That was my mistake. Clutches are cheaper to replace

Finally, for running 450+ you'll need the cams with the upgraded fuel lobe and preferably Opel injectors. My numbers were achieved without those but we have an advantage here at altitude. I'll be upgrading those in the next year or so.

Sweet thanks for the info man, I'll be looking into it all, I'm hoping to do tail of the dragon and the circuit of the Americas next year so I'm gonna need the shorter gears so I'll prolly go with the 4.45gears on the 5 speed instead of the 6 speed F40

Yeah if you plan to track it stick with the 4.45. Just make sure your tune ramps the torque. The 4.45 is a ton of fun at the track. You'll have to re-learn shift points. It was a new experience for me running into the rev limiter in 4th @ 140. Mine tops out at about 165 but you'll never hit that at the track anyway at least not at mine.
