what did i break

I no lift shifted when my car wasn't totally warmed up... I let it run for a good 5 mins, but the coolant was still only around 165... The car started to sputter really bad, check engine light flashed...so I immediately turned it off, waited a second, and turned it back on, everything seems to be ok, but now upon start up, the car flashes "service ESC" and esc stays off no matter what...will onstar be able to tell me what code I threw?

Yea, yea, I messed up. I thought it was warm, since it wasnt too cold out, and I let it run for a bit b4 leaving....I didn't have my coolant temp on the screen, and forgot to check...

Do you have a oil guage?

coolant reaches tempature before oil does.

i go by oil temp to, i tried it when coolent temp was operating temp, still misfire, when oil is at least 170 degrees it doesnt misfire, but 190 is normal oil runing temp, wait till then to step on it. get somethign that tells u oil temp. Dashdaq, dashhawk, oil temp guage.

pff i almost do that on a daily basis. sounds like I blow the cat/muffler out and chunks go flying. meh just restart the car, maybe clear codes and your fine.

remember NSL quickly AND do it welllllll before redline. I think thats why i screw it up....I do it to close to redline.

So... since when did engine coolant temperature matter to the transmission? You know your trans doesn't even remotely START to warm up until you are moving for a good 3 minutes or so? And your clutch needs to warm up some too. No wonder people are breaking transmissions left and right, and clutches are slipping like crazy.

Think about what you do to your car before you do it for God's sake! Beat the **** out of it, but think about everything before you do it.

+1. I always feather my throttle until Im up to 198*. No more than 1/4 throttle. Youd be amazed how poorly engine oil lubricates your internals when its not at the appropriate temperature.

Aye. Please let your engine AND trans heat up before you do something like this again.

Probably not; you broke something else. Let this be a lesson boys and girls, even if the coolant is up to temp doesn't mean everything else is . I'd take it to the dealer to have the ESC checked, it might be something simple like a loose connection, etc.

Mine did that once too (of course the car was warmed up etc), and the dealer said alot of the LNF balt's wheel position sensors (?) were not calibrated right from the factory, so its just a simple recalibration.

The ESC code is still there though. The dealer will need to clear and recal.
