it could be the gas cap not on tight enough or its evap emissions thing. honestly you can prolly clear it and it shouldn't come back on.

Basically gas tanks arn't allowed to vent fumes to atmosphere, so there is a small vaccum pulled from the tank through the engine. There are any number of things that can go wrong with the EVAP system. Loose gas cap is common, but there are other places for leaks and failures.

might be a crack in the plastic cap? They are cheap, pick up another one and give it a try.

Take your gas cap off and put it back on again until it clicks three times. If the code keeps coming back bring it to the dealer and have them inspect the Evap canister and lines for leaks.

80% of the time gas cap
20% of the time it's the EVAP vent valve

just from my experience lol

I have the same issue. I noticed the CEL comes back after it rains, not sure its related though because it isnt 100%. I cleared it twice, last episode was probably a month ago and havent had it come back yet. I'll be taking it in next time it comes on.

There's a number of things it could be from a loose gas cap, leak in an EVAP line/seal, stuck vent valve, a purge solenoid that sticks open.

That is what I would do. That is what they get paid to do. Let them figure it out.

Happened to me... got the CEL and check gas cap... brought it to the dealer and they said it was the canister... Ordered the part waiting on it so they can replace it.. no money spent

Werd, you paid for the warranty on your car when you bought it, you might as well take advantage of it.

The EVAP cel has come up on a few LNFs. It does not appear to be a big issue. Some have had it caused by cracking or breaking on the intake where the braided line connects. Other times it has been the EVAP canister. Seen it on 2-3 cars.

when you fill up, do you still put gas after it clicks to top it off? i have seen so many cars screw up there charcoal canister and fill it up with gas by topping it off, then throw an EVAP code cause they have a bad canister. just throwing that out there as another probable cause.

yes, this is the valve that opens to send hydrocarbon fumes to be burnt in your engine at cruising speeds. if it wasnt opening, that would have explained your cel

this is the 2nd time in a month its happened..was it bad to wait that long?? i honestly thought it was the gas cap due to the warning i got on the dic earlier saying "check gas cap"....the cel came on almost at the same time...weird
