What hose is this?

Popped my hood and noticed what I assume is oil around a hose. The hose has an arrow pointing towards the engine and has a eng written above the arrow. It is bottom right to the purge solenoid and runs along the right side of the engine to the back. Wish I could just add a pic straight from my phone.

So, I think its the hose (pvc?) That runs to the intake manifold? It doesn't seem to drip, seems almost like condensation on it. It's yellowish ( I am color blind) but put it next to the coolant to match colors lol.

The car sat for good week covered in a foot of snow.

I put one up on the CSS.net gang page on Facebook. Someone that I'm sure is on here replied on there. (White vw that i just saw posted a couple days ago) No idea how to link it from there or just add it from my gallery on my phone.

That person said possible pcv/blow by related. Then others were saying the manifold is cracking.

It's the brake booster line. You look like ur getting a lot of oil in ur intake. Should get a Powell oil separator asap, then walnut blast ur valves. Probably coked bad already.

yes, turbo cars get decent blowby which goes into ur intake system at the turbo from the crank case vent on the valve cover, your intake valves have no gas spraying on them since the car is direct injected instead of port injected, so after awhile, ur valves get oil coked and need to be cleaned or ur car will eventually start to misfire and run like poop. an oil catch can does nothing at all, powell oil separator, which is similar to a catch can but it actually works. keeps all the oil out of the intake system and drains it back into the oil pan. ur valves stay a lot cleaner. And seeing as u seem to have oil seepage from the brake booster line, id assume ur got oil in ur intake or are getting a nice amount going through it anyway. there isn't anything wrong with the car, just need that separator to clean that up, and a good idea would be to take off ur intercooler and piping after separator is installed and clean them, I had a puddle of oil in my intercooler and my pipes were all oil coated. intake manifold was dirty with oil residue as well, which I cleaned when I walnut blasted the valves. now meth keeps the intake manifold clean, since u still do get a little oil in there from the pcv valve in the manifold.

Thank you for the replies. And BTW. The engine bay is the previous owners deal. I just haven't got the ***** to clean this engine yet lol. I use to spray the hellll out of my 2.2 balt I had with not a care in the world. Cel would come on for a couple days cuz of water getting into the maf. This engine makes me a little nervous lol

Just be carful cleaning, pressure was where needed and use an engine cleaner and wipes for the areas u don't wanna get wet.

And seafoam wont help you with valve gunk, trust me, its all been tried. only things that work is walnut blast, or some harsh chemical that u let sit on the valves over night and use a toothbrush to scrap off the gunk. idk what chemical guys have used, but walnut blast is easy and best way.

For me doing that myself is completely out of the question. I wonder if I have any local shops that have done that kinda work. I'm interested in the Powell oil separator to keep things clean once I do clean it. Glad to know this is an urgent matter that needs to be done asap.

I know cleaning the engine needs to be done asap though. There's weird dead insects from Africa on top of the engine lol. Work really killed all my chances of properly detailing her. I feel like a parent neglecting their child now.
