If you want an aftermarket display that will do everything the stock rpd will do go with a Dashdaq. That's what I did on my 08 and I love it! www.dashdaq.com

DashDaq and DashHawk are your cheapest bets. Don't go with the RPD unless you want to pay a lot and waste a lot of your time.

go with dash hawk.

no point to pay 300+ for more colors on the gauge.

cant go RPD.

just look around at some of the vendors for a dashhawk

its 300

Yeah, here's the thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...wiring+harness

Apparently Scythe_Snake was able to get it done. I thought it wouldn't be feasible too. It's towards the bottom of the original post. He talks about how he was able to get it installed, and goes on to show pictures of the original non-RPD A-pillar pod/molding along with the original non-RPD wiring harness.

Yeah, sounds like maybe you need to twist his arm until he spills the beans. Maybe he/the dealer knows something we don't... or maybe he was just willing to pay a lot to do it.

Did you not read, he said his father was an ex employee, most likely of the dealer installing or from GM to cut the cost, either way his parents stepped in.

I'll post some pics tonight....I'll try not to forget! lol. I think it looks pretty clean. I think with some more time and effort though it could look a lot better. I'm not a big fan of the suction cup windshield mount, but I haven't had the time to figure out something else. The windshield mount isn't bad. It's really sturdy and works well, I'd just rather have something that looks more like it's part of the car and not something just stuck to the windshield. I'll be sure to post if I figure out a better mount.

Nakaiya21 has a dashdaq and has posted pics:

Yeah, it looks like Scyth_Snake had to replace an entire IN DASH wiring harness (means all that has to come OUT), including the DIC screen! Yuck! Get yourself an interceptor or dashhawk or something instead. Interceptor can even fit where the boost gauge sits.
