Will i need a retune??

So im moving to AZ in Feb and my buddy said the premium gas is only 91 octane. When i was tuned i was tuned running 93 octane. Will i need to be retuned so that i dont knock? or should i be safe just running the 91?

You will be safe. But if you want to make the most power from 91 octane, you should probably tune for 91. That's my .02 cents.

Retune the car for 91. You'll see the power than running lower octane that your car doesn't want

Depends on how aggressive the 93 tune is. Do you happen to know what AFR and Timing you are running?

There is a possibility of knock due to the octane raiting being lower... yes its not much..

if the tune is aggressive, then you should think about having it retuned. This would be because the car is at its limits with the octane of fuel its using, and lowering the octane will only mean a possibility of knock..

if the car has a moderate tune, you should be okay.

YES get it retuned. If your tuner doesn't know how to use the factory wideband... then he shouldn't be tuning

Exactly ...... there are some scary "TUNERS" out there . There should be a test for some of these people ...... before they tune on any other car.... but their own.

personally i wouldnt get it retuned unless u modified the engine or added parts to it. the whole reason for the differance between 91 and 93 is the location of the gas station. if you live at a low elevation or near the coast your are likly to see 93. higher elevation ur gonna see 91. if you where tuned for 93 at a low elevation with more dense air then when you go to a higher elevation with thinner air then your car compensates for it automaticlly. i think thats y they put a maf senser in these damn things. i could be wrong tho. i wouldnt know y els they have them :P

You dont need to RPD to have a Wideband in the car. Its still there. If he tuned with HPT he could log it with HPT, no excuse..

Good for raising your octane level .1-.2. If you can find the Powermist gallon's of booster out by you, those have worked decent with a whole gallon mixed with a fillup of 91.
