will a intake and downpipe
will a intake and downpipe
i have the gms1 and im gettin a catted downpipe and k&n typhoon intake for my car i was just wondering is this going to throw off the fuel trims that bad? or will it be ok with the two mods? as in will it be runable and not damage the car?
I have a hahn catted dp and K&N SRI installed on my car. The only 2 mods I currently have outside of GMS1. Not throwing any codes and the car runs perfectly normal (Except it is very loud on cat warmup now). Fuel trims are a little off, (I'm not getting as good gas mileage as I should); however, we are talking a loss of only 20 miles per tank I think. Not back firing or anything though, and it was driven very hard one day last week when we went to the track. Basic conclusion, it runs fine on both driving hard and very easy; however, I would get it tuned as soon as you can afford to because I'm sure the car wouldn't like it over an extended period of time. I'm hoping to get mine tuned by the end of july.
The K&N cone can be rotated to optimize long term fuel trims if you have a way to monitor them. IIRC, the seam at around 12:30 o'clock on the cone was the best for many. I'm sure a K&N Typhooney owner will correct me if I remembered it wrong.
I beleive it was anywhere from 10-12 oclock is where the seam should belol.
I have a catted DP and the K&N typhoon. when I first got the GMS1 I got a code for "too lean at idle" but my filter was closed to 1:30 than 12 or 12:30 so i rotated it cleared the code and the car drives fine now. no codes, nothing weird.
a downpipe can cause a code as well. It is less likely on a catted downpipe.
I been considerikng adding a downpipe on top of GMS1 but I would want a catless and i would probaly through a code. I decided I would mod my other car instead.

the zzp catless dp doesnt throw a code alot of people have them . and as for the k&n if you clock it right no need for a tune my ltft are at -.8 . it all in how it rotated . and i wish byt was closer
Eh...whether or not you'll throw a code is hit or miss (though I'd say mroe on the Hit side). My ZZP threw a code...but it was after about 10k miles. Popped up one day cruising home from work. Disabled it via HPT and that was it. My BadMab I'm not sure about. I had disabled the rear O2 the moment I put it on.
