ZZP Silicone Couplers

Has anyone used these silicone couplers from ZZP
ZZPerformance - LNF Replacement Silicone Couplers #ZZ-LNFSILCP
and how were they ?
Easy to install ?
I trust the 90 degree piece replaces the rubber piece that comes off the turbo ?
How is the "band clamp" that joins the rubber elbow from the turbo to the plastic piping at the top removed ?
I've heard this could be a good improvement because the stock rubber elbow could expand during high boost causing loss of velocity.
Sorry for the basic questions, but I'm new to the turbo world and couldn't find just a coupler replacement thread in the How-To section.
Thanks for any help.

I don't know of any part from ZZP that cannot be trusted. I am sure you will have no problems buying any part from them.

Yep, I just installed their upgraded intake tube yesterday, no problems.
Anyone know if replacing the upper rubber coupling will improve performance ? And how the stock band clamp is removed that joins the rubber coupling to the plastic charge pipe ??

Youre not going to notice anything different. The zzp parts are just higher quality.

install pretty easy. only thing is the lower stock coupler was pretty tight onto the intercooler. and for the lower one youll wanna be under the car

The couplers work great. Mine has held boost better than the stock ones.

What exactly do you mean, they've held boost better than the stock ones ?
Thx

They replace the stick couplers, are same as stock except silicon . I got them. Work good. I got the Zfr one, that one is a pain to keep on the turbo, u don't do it just right it pulls out from the tbolt while u tighten and pops off after a few pulls.

slapbetcommissioner 07-18-2014 08:54 AM

Never had a problem with the stock couplers.
If you want an uograde replace the pipes and the couplers. More of a quality improvement mod then a power mod but looks nice under the hood. I wouldn't bother cutting the banding off a shirty plastic pipe to upgrade the couplers which aren't a problem. The pipe is what needs the upgrade.

Agreed with slap, don't upgrade ur couplers unless u have to. I had to that's why I did. If u don't have to spend the money on something else

Hey guys well i have my couplers since i got the intercooler package from zzp my question is they seem like they have dirt inside like they where in the same place for years and dust just collect it. What should i clean it with? Im thinking just plain water. Also im sure once im getting to installing ill figure out but for now i would like to know what coupler goes connected to what? And last question if i install the intercooler without a tune would it be fine? I know i wont see much of a benefit

tomj77 12-14-2014 01:55 AM

just just soap and water,

Snail_SS 12-14-2014 03:19 AM

Thanks tom. Any idea on what coupler goes to what if both are for the hot side or 1 for cold and 1 hot?

footballplaya3k 12-14-2014 05:13 AM

Doesn't matter.

sam1031 12-14-2014 08:34 AM

When i got tuned the stock couplers kept blowing off the upper charge pipe at the ic. Got the zzp silicone couplers with new t bolt clamps and it's been fine ever since. Highly recommend these.

GreenySC2 12-15-2014 01:11 PM

are the couplers really needed for the intercooler install or can you go without them?

sam1031 12-15-2014 07:58 PM

It'll make life a lot easier and will hold better under pressure. Plus you dont need to worry about cutting the stock upper charge pipe couplers.

sup pretty much I should order the couplers if I get the IC off someone else?

sorry for the thread jack after an answer please return yup regularly scheduled topic

sam1031 12-16-2014 02:45 PM

I would, its definetly worth it. Looks much better too besides the fact that they work 10000x better than the stock couplers.

GreenySC2 12-17-2014 07:17 PM

options to paint an IC?

just regular paint or powder coat?
