ZZPerformance engine replacement
Long story short, my car has a cracked head gasket and possible warped/cracked head. Also need to replace the intercooler and radiator. I have around 10k to fix it.
After days of back and forth on many options, I thought about just replacing the entire engine. I love this car way too much and I want to keep it.
Well, I found this site who offers this engine and turbo combo : - referring to the ZFR Turbo-6758.
LDK Long Block - Engine
Just curious about some feedback if anyone had some more insight on the engine/turbo quality and possible labor hours/cost for an engine swap. Thanks in advance, any advice is much appreciated.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear (I'm super tired) . I've had this car since 2008. I bought it originally.
I have 10k to replace the motor, intercooler, and radiator.

Your post made sense, he just can't read.
Your can't beat the price of ZZP's crate engine LDK. Get the ZFR with it and you're good to go.
I paid for about 15 hours of labor which cost me around $1400 to get my LDK put it, but some shops wanted $2k-$2.5k. You just gotta call around.

Frost3- ldk is a good setup. If you have e85 available my advice to you would be get the ldk complete motor, get a ko4r turbo from turbo bay for like $600 and run e47 fuel. The money you save from not getting the zfr can go most of the way to pay for installing the new motor in labor. It's an option anyway, you will get as much torque as the zfr if you were going to run it on just regular gas verses the k04r on e47, and it should net you around 380-385hp as measured on a dynojet. That setup should satisfy you and be cheaper. The zfr turbos are nice but you can't use them a whole lot more till 3rd gear.

Don't forget to add that tune money if you change that turbo and also 3 bar map sensors. And yeah just go for a zzp LDK engine. If you do the labor yourself you will save a ton but I'm sure with 10k you will be good to go. Also if going ZFR you might want to upgrade that clutch if you haven't already

Thanks for the replies!
I could technically do the swap myself, but with school and work I really don't want to spend extra time in a garage (that I don't have) by myself. I'm going to call around today and see if I can get some quotes.
I have the GM tune with their sensors, is that the map sensors you're talking about? And I was looking at the South Bend stage 4 clutch to compensate up to 400 hp.
@63 Nova SS - Yeah, that would be the absolute ideal power range for me, that's exactly what I want. You can get the ko4 already mounted on the LDK long block for $500 (my turbo may be still in working condition too!). If i can reach 375/375 with the Ko4 that would be ideal. The money I would save on the turbo I could get a headers, down pipe, and an exhaust. That would leave plenty of extra headroom for labor I think.

We don't need "headers" as we only have one manifold and the stock one is just fine.

Yup I'm talking about the GM sensors for the gms1 tune. The K04r would be great for you but zzp doesn't sell that turbo. Turbo Bay performance does and I would say to get both the ceramic coating and the high boost actuator. On the clutch it seems like a good pick or maybe you cold save some more and get a GMPP clutch

Well now I'm talking directly with ZZperformance (they're not THAT far from me) about an entire in-shop fix. There were a few other problems that arose : Fuel pump, Water pump, condenser, fan, fan shroud, and sub frame.
I freed up some more funds to fix all of this and also try and get the downpipe, exhaust as well. (and up to 400hp clutch replacement)
Does this seem like a good route? a full rebuild through ZZperformance? The tune and everything? They seem like a company who makes great products, stainless construction with high quality welds. Who have also done extensive R&D on the LNF/LDK.

its up to you and how much you want to spend. If you don't mind spending the money, get the zfr. if you want to save money order the ldk without the turbo, get the r turbo from turbobay, and have zzp do the install and tune. Its up to you, but like what has been said, stock k04 probably wont get you over 350 hp on e85 or e 47, but the k04 r or k04+ from pwerks can, but the + is twice the money as the r.

I think I'm going to go with the ZFR, since I'm going full build with ZZP anyway.
I gave them the entire parts list, and let them know what I wanted, waiting to get a quote back from them.
I feel like I'm in good hands with them. Haven't read anything bad about them yet.

Awesome, this all sounds like good news then! I appreciate everyone's input, thanks again! Once I get her back I'll try to get some pictures of the finished product (hopefully!).
Sl0wbaltSS seems like a real winner, lots of constructive advice, kind, and helpful. You guys should strive to be more like him.
